Rincon Family Services (RFS) is a not-for-profit community organization, established in 1972 to combat the epidemic use of heroin and violence that were dismantling communities throughout Chicago. RFS is dedicated to rendering compassionate and effective programs that promote the quality of life by serving as a catalyst to advocate, educate, and empower individuals and their families.
POSITION SUMMARY: Developing and implementing effective coaching strategies to help participants overcome employment-related challenges to secure employment. Work with the Institute for Workforce Education and Outreach Worker to provide a quality workforce training program for participants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Identifying clients' strengths and advising them on how to use those strengths to secure employment or excel in their chosen career path.
- Assist Outreach Worker in selecting participants for Pre-apprenticeship Program
- Providing information on suitable career paths based on clients' skills, qualifications, interests, and experience.
- Use Illinois Work Net tools as required by the funder.
- Collect data on participants and outcomes for quarterly reporting.
- Track participant involvement in training hours to determine stipend due.
- Creates outreach strategies to recruit participants for the Kankakee area.
- Establish relationships with trade unions in Kankakee areas for participant placement in apprenticeship opportunities after program completion.
- Conducting tests to assess clients' skills and abilities and providing feedback on test results.
- Reviewing participants’ resumes and suggesting improvements as needed.
- Maintaining accurate records of Participants’ progress.
- Collaborating with employers and union to identify possible job opportunities for participants
- Enroll participants in program to learn how to use program-related tools, instruments, and equipment correctly.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The Manager must be able to successfully perform essential functions of this job, including transporting paperwork and other materials between a variety of on-site and off-site locations and preparing for group activities that may require traveling to off-site locations for programmatic or outreach functions. She/he must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, including a calculator, copier, and printer. Job Coach Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in human resource management, psychology, or related field is preferred. Or 4 years of relevant experience will be considered.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
- Experience working with unions or in construction trades is a plus.
- Proven experience working as a job coach.
- Sound knowledge of different jobs and career paths.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent research, organizational, and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills.
