Job Description
We are seeking a full-time Jewelry Authenticator and Buyer. Applicants should be able to test and identify precious metals, diamonds, and gemstones. Ideal candidate will have their GG or will have completed the GIA Diamond Program. Applicants should be able to grade, evaluate and price diamonds, jewelry, and gemstones. They should be able to accurately identify synthetic/treated diamonds using GIA evaluation techniques. Candidates will need to have excellent communication skills and should be comfortable working with the public. Must be an extremely organized self-starter that thrives in a fast-paced work environment.
Job Duties
Responsible for purchasing jewelry and other precious metals from the public in a high-volume location
Work with customers to evaluate and authenticate jewelry, diamond, and gemstones and provide competitive bids
Responsible for identifying color, clarity, and size of diamonds. Detecting treatments by utilizing standard and specialty equipment, equipment provided.
Enter specifications, including product category, description, condition, weights, and measurements into POS
Other duties as directed by the Manager
Minimum Job Requirements
Completion of GIA’s Graduate Diamond Program or Graduate Gemology diploma
1+ Years in Jewelry Industry with Retail Experience
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Extremely organized self-starter that thrives in a fast-paced work environment
Knowledge of jewelry industry pricing trends and authenticity
Excellent organizational, time management and attention to detail
Basic computer and data entry skills
Ability to lift up to 25lbs
