Job Summary
Under the direction of the company leadership, supervises the day-to-day services operations at an assigned distribution center. Supervises the work of staff to ensure a productive work environment and compliance with applicable policies and standards. Coordinates immediate facilities services (custodial and grounds) and serves as the principal liaison to on-site management.
Distinguishing Characteristics
Janitorial Supervisor serves as a first-line supervisor in carrying out day-to-day operations for an assigned distribution center. The perfect Janitorial Supervisor has historically been called a "self starter" and "problem solver" by previous employers. This is not a desk job. This is an on your feet job, leading others by example.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and work alongside the custodial staff. Hires, trains, evaluates, disciplines and recommends dismissal of staff as necessary.
- Identifies employee resources and expertise and utilizes employee experiences and skills to plan, schedule, assign and perform work duties.
- Meets with staff at the beginning and end of the assigned shift. Conducts ongoing training and safety meetings.
- Maintains an accurate record of shift attendance and ensures that employee time sheets are properly filled out prior to submission to payroll.
- Participates in identifying, recommending and implementing opportunities for improved services.
- Requisitions services, supplies, equipment and materials to ensure efficient operations of distribution center. Monitors and maintains inventories.
- Ensures that service requests are completed in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Designated as “essential” personnel and responds to calls at all hours. Responsible for assessing, reporting, and advising site leadership regarding the status of all issues.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
