DESCRIPTION
Under the direct supervision of a Shift Supervisor, Lobby Control Officers will be responsible for ensuring anyone entering the facility clears through the security checkpoint. Required to perform searches of persons which involve touching and feeling to detect potential weapons and contraband. Daily documentation of personnel, visitor, contractors that enter/exit the facility.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serves, in many instances, as the first professional point of contact, in person and/or by phone, for the Charles B. Webster Detention Center to facilitate information sharing or visits for attorneys, clergy, vendors, family/friends of inmates, and other service providers.
• Monitor, control and document the movement of all persons in and out secured part of the facility who enter through the Jail Lobby.
• Coordinate the movement and participation of inmates for professional visits/consultation.
• Report incidents of rule violations, by visitors, as they occur and other reports as situations dictate.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES MIGHT INCLUDE:

• Greet and welcome visitors to the facility
• Play a critical role in working with sworn personnel to help maintain security at the facility.
• Log in all individuals who come to the facility to include attorneys, doctors, psychologists, counselors, probation officers, family members, friends, and visitors,
• Perform outer clothing searches using detectors, inspecting bags, and coordinating with jail officers and administrative staff to ensure security standards are met at all times.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:High School diploma, trade school, or G.E.D.Experience: Experience in a public safety environment preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Good communication skills, both oral and written.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently.
• Familiarization with the reporting system used by CBWDC POST Orders.
• Familiarization with proper radio procedures used within CBWDC.

Licensing/Certification:

• Must possess a valid driver's license with good driving history. If State license is other than Georgia or South Carolina, applicant must obtain a license in Georgia or South Carolina within 30 days of employment.

Some positions may require:

• Collecting the proper information and notifying the Chain of Command and/or on duty supervisors of any suspected violations.

This position requires staff call up in an emergency situation.
This position may require more than 50% travel from office to other locations.
