SANDRA AND LEON LEVINE JCC
The Sandra and Leon Levine Jewish Community Center is a non-profit, social service agency founded upon Jewish ethics and values. The Center provides and initiates diversified social, educational, recreational and cultural programs within a Jewish setting. The JCC is a partner in serving the community, is affiliated with the JCC Association of North America and a beneficiary agency of the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte and United Way.
POSITION PURPOSE:
- Create and maintain a safe and stimulating environment for young children (ages 12 months and up).
- Support the lead teacher in Teaching Early Childhood education classes for ages 12 months and up.
- Work in a family-centered program and focus your duties on the needs of the LJCC Families.
- Specific hours needed are: 8:30am - 12:30pm
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning the appropriate physical, social, and emotional development of students with an emphasis on language development and emergent literacy skills.
- Must demonstrate the ability to support the social and emotional development of children.
- Support in providing activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving appropriate to the development levels of the children.
- Model developmentally appropriate activities and positive behavior management techniques through daily contact with children and Early Childhood staff in the classroom.
- Work cooperatively and effectively as a team member by communicating and contributing information on a continuous basis.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of current child development practices.
- Continue to update and maintain safety practices such as First Aid and CPR training and knowledge of LJCC Emergency protocols and procedures.
Education:
- Experience teaching in Early Childhood education.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Experience working in an Early Childhood and/or family literacy setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the children and program
Working Conditions:
- Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Occasional lifting of 25 pounds or more.
