Description
Are you an experienced Systems Integration Engineer? Do you have experience in and enjoy leadership roles in Network Operations? Do you possess experience in server computing and Systems Integration that involves server domains and Clouds Services? Does your past experience include working with on-premises data center computing platforms? Are you able to provide guidance in and oversight of virtual and physical servers running software applications using Microsoft Advanced Server software? This position serves as the L&I lead Systems Integration Engineer and team supervisor for the agency's Enterprise Systems for server computing and Systems Integration that encumbers all three server domains and Clouds Services plus on-premises data center computing platforms. This work requires advanced knowledge of a wide range of technology and oversight of virtual and physical servers running software applications using Microsoft Advanced Server software. The incumbent will work independently on all levels of assignments, provide guidance to lower-level staff and supervise others within the Network Operations Team.
This role resolves complex problems based on a thorough, in-depth understanding of the Network Operations Team, developing methods for technology use when industry best practices don't fit our environment or needs while considering capabilities, limitations, and implications to current and future IT solutions for L&I.
This position will be responsible for and supervise others, working on advanced configurations of the agency's Active Directory Domains including: Domain Name Services (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Group Policy Objects (GPO) and Interoperability with various Cloud Computing Services, Data Security, and Windows Server Administration. Without these services and oversight, L&I employees, our customers, could not access systems and/or work and do their jobs.
The position leads and supervises technical staff and works with agency architects who strategize to create standards for the agency. This position leads and supervises the design and implementation of advanced Information Technology solutions for L&I.
Duties
Some of what you will do includes:
  • Server and Systems Integration, including:
    • Leads and Supervises staff in the design, planning, implementation, and support of complex domain services, systems including SharePoint, Integrates systems in both the physical, virtual, and cloud environment, including interpreting industry best practices and creating new procedures and standards for the agency.
    • Leads and supervises staff in designing, building and supporting core computer systems, such as Domain Controllers, Global Catalogs, DNS, DFS, DHCP, File and Print services to meet required standards and integrates these systems within the L&I Network Infrastructure.
    • Provides advanced, enterprise-level support on the use of IT security protocols, for technology initiatives.
    • Configures and maintains Microsoft Active Directory and third-party software utilities.
    • Works independently and provides guidance to Network Operations staff and development teams that support Domain services or tier three support tickets for server support and SharePoint sites and services.
    • Works with the Enterprise Monitoring team to ensure all systems are properly monitored for optimal alerting. Utilizing tools including SolarWinds, Veeam One.
    • Creates and sends information to agency business areas, customers and stakeholders concerning the status of problems, projects and technical requests.
  • Cloud Integration
  • Active Directory Integration, including:
    • Leads and supervises staff supporting L&I's Enterprise Active Directory services across all L&I domains and computer environments. This includes multiple domains, LNI, WADS, and LNIX and Azure Cloud.
    • Represents the agency as a voting member to the Statewide Forest Resource Group.
    • Configures and maintains Active Directory and third-party software utilities.
    • Provides expert level knowledge and supervisory skills for staff supporting multiple domains to include domain integration .
    • Consults independently with other L&I business and IT staff to provide necessary problem resolution and guidance.
    • Develops PowerShell scripts.
    • Serves as the Agency's "go-to" technical resource for all Active Directory Domains and Windows security problem resolution and advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution across the Information Technology Enterprise.
  • Problem resolution, including:
    • Independently supervise staff to determine the causes of incompatibilities between hardware and/or software components.

  • Qualifications
    Required:
    • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration or a closely aligned field
    AND
    • Six (6) years recent IT professional experience:
      • Installing and supporting servers, applications, in an enterprise network environment.
      • Identifying, troubleshooting and resolving complicated network and application issues.

    OR
    • Associate's degree related to Computer Science, Business Administration, or a closely aligned field
    AND
    • Eight (8) years of recent professional experience:
      • Installing and supporting servers, applications, in an enterprise network environment.
      • Identifying, troubleshooting and resolving complicated network and application issues.
    OR
    • Ten (10) years' recent experience in an IT Professional area:
      • Installing and supporting servers, applications, in an enterprise network environment.
      • Identifying, troubleshooting and resolving complicated network and application issues.
