Job Title: IT Specialist / Technician
Location: New York City (On-site, Monday-Thursday)
Salary Expectations: $60k - $65k
Summary/Objective: The IT Specialist/Tech will oversee the functions of the Information Technology Department, providing technical solutions through hardware, software, and network support. This role requires a balance of technical expertise and customer service skills and involves maintaining effective communication with staff, vendors, and partners.
Requirements
• Manage and complete IT projects from start to finish, identifying opportunities for automation and improving current IT processes.
• Manage software and hardware vendor relationships and maintain companywide inventory of technology-related items, ensuring effective asset rotation.
• Install and configure computers, peripherals, phones, and printers, and document all actions and important information in support tickets.
• Handle Tier 1 troubleshooting for a range of hardware, software, and services, including support of web-based technologies.
• Oversee and maintain wired and wireless networks, monitoring network usage and security.
• Develop processes for end-user support, including the creation and follow-through of support requests.
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on software modules, assisting clients and internal users, and provide ongoing training and support to end users and new staff.
• Support VoIP phone service and printer/scanning equipment, including vendor engagement for maintenance and support issues.
• Manage user accounts via Active Directory: new hires, terminations, and permissions.
• Perform PC repair and rebuilds, and travel to satellite sites for service and support.
• Provide support during off hours and weekends via email, phone, VPN, and remote access.
• Coordinate and support meetings and the use of A/V equipment.
Key Success Factors:
• Proficiency with Windows 10 & 11 operating systems, server operating systems, and Desktop Administration.
• Strong skills in Microsoft suite applications and Office 365.
• Understanding of network connectivity and protocols (IP addressing/subnet masks, DHCP, DNS).
• Experience in Microsoft Windows Active Directory environment administration.
• Knowledge of networking equipment (Routers, Switches, Access Points) and device management (Mobile, MDM).
Qualifications & Competencies:
• Knowledge of various software products and support systems.
• Troubleshooting skills with desktops, laptops, printers, phones, and standard networking equipment.
• Basic computer scripting skills are preferred but not required.
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work well in an open office environment.
• Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively in a team environment.
Education & Experience:
• Associate degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of experience in systems and networking administration in a Microsoft Windows-based environment.
• Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, MCSE, CCNA) are advantageous.
