Position Summary
• An individual performing the role of a Solution Architect focuses on converting business requirements into the network architecture and solution design that ultimately constitute the blueprint for the solution. I that process, the Solution Architect designs solutions, published reference architecture, and on guidance from enterprise architecture.
• Acts as a Solution Architect, you will design, develop, and implement utility solutions in BTM (Behind-the-Meter) / FTM (Front-the-Meter) devices over various communications, CA Rule 21 based low-cost DER Telemetry, CSIP (Common Smart Inverter Profile) based Smart Inverters, SCADA integration, and Utility's Enterprise System interfaces (SAP/EGI, GIS, DMS, and PI Historian) as for Asset management.
• You will apply extensive knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices for integration of DERs over various on-premise / public Cloud environment.
• You will use a variety of design and interface analysis tools, including Relational Database, SoapUI, Python scripts, WireShark, and a complete array of Microsoft desktop applications.
• This position works with the Line of Business (LOB) to design, develop, implementation, and negotiate major contracts and play a key role in PoC and path to production.
Job Responsibilities
• Develops and implements DER management solutions for IEEE 2030.5 based Smart Inverters and reflect results of projects and operational requirements to related standards.
• Designs communication solutions with FirstNet (4G LTE PS network), 900 MHz AMI network, Satellite (VSAT), 2.4GHz FAN, and/or Fiber Leased line
• Creates system design models, specifications, network architecture diagrams, and charts to provide
• direction to system programmer/3rd party developers and development teams.
• Provide data analytics solutions and/or data workflow architectures including data connect, transform (data enrichments), analyze, and operationalize an organization's data to decision-making and drive change.
• Provide device certificate guidelines (Root CA, MCA, and/or MICA) to communicate with customer owned untrusted devices
• Validates low-cost telemetry solutions for monitoring/managing various DERs
• Designs the application architecture for EPIC projects or application solutions on AWS Cloud environment.
• Develops implementation plans and establish teams to introduce new technology
• Work with Cybersecurity and Cloud Team to architect the application security requirement
• Assesses potential recommended changes to standards and work procedures or new technology
• Develops network and service performance analysis plan and methodology
• Provide technology thought leadership in the group
Qualifications
Minimum:
• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) or relevant experience
• Job-related experience, 7 years
Desired:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science/Information Systems, etc.
• Demonstrated skills and experience with IEEE 2030.5 interface, CSIP (California Smart Inverter Profile), IEEE 1547-2018 (local DER Interface) and implement utility solutions with DER devices (Direct communication / Aggregator communication)
• Working experience with Public internet, 4G LTE/FirstNet, 900 MHz RF Mesh network, VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) and/or 2.4GHz/5GHz RF-Mesh FAN network to manage various BTM/FTM devices
• Strong knowledge with communication network requirements and performance indicators such as bandwidth(throughput), latency, reliability (failover)
• Strong knowledge with tools / applications regularly used by AMI network Engineers and DER Operating Engineers, and Planning Engineers such as: AMI Network analysis tool (Itron-FSU), DER telemetry, IEEE 2030.5 based Smart Inverter integration
• Working experience to design & build for establishing and maintaining sync with data source systems and enforcing the related data ingestion schedules and health check
• Demonstrates Cloud Solution and Data Analytic solutions such as Foundry
• Demonstrated experience in application architecture design at AWS VPC
• Demonstrated experience PKI environment (certificate issuing procedures)
• Demonstrated experience to design and test SSL Offload and load balancing architecture
• Demonstrated experience end-to-end network connectivity tests and troubleshooting capabilities (SSL offload, Mutual authentication, HTTP Header (X-Forwarded-For/X-Client-Cert))
• Working experience with 4G LTE cellular network with Enterprise APN, AVPN (MPLS-based VPN)
