General Description:

This position reports directly to VP, IT. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled and motivated IT Security Specialist to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our IT systems and data. The successful candidate will have a strong background in IT security, along with relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or Security+. The IT Security Specialist will manage both the day-to-day events related to IT security incidents as well as managing the tool landscape to handle IT security. Another important aspect is implementation and roll-out of additional IT security policies. Operating with a sense of urgency in relation to any ongoing security investigation and has a sense of ownership on any new attack vectors involving in the global cyberspace. As such advises on the introduction of new technologies to keep company data and systems secure.

Role location: Either Denver, Colorado, or Buena New Jersey, some days / week on-site presence preferred.

Essential Functions:

1.Policy and Procedural Frameworks:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive security policies and procedures in alignment with industry standards, such as NIST, to protect the organization's IT infrastructure and data.
  • Regularly review and update security policies to address emerging threats and maintain compliance with industry regulations.
2.Security Tool Management:
  • Deploy, configure, and manage security tools, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, antivirus software, and data loss prevention solutions.
  • Conduct regular assessments of security tools' effectiveness and recommend improvements or enhancements as needed.
3. Incident Response:
  • Serve as a key member of the incident response team, responsible for detecting, analyzing, and mitigating IT security incidents.
  • Lead and participate in incident response investigations to identify the root cause, impact, and extent of incident.
4. Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing:
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration tests to identify potential weaknesses in our IT systems and applications.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to prioritize and remediate identified vulnerabilities.
5.Security Awareness and Training:
  • Develop and deliver IT security awareness programs to educate employees about the latest security threats and best practices.
  • Promote a culture of security-conscious behavior among staff members.
6. Compliance and Audit:
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the company's IT security practices comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in security audits and assessments, addressing any identified gaps or deficiencies.
7. Security Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Monitor security logs, alerts, and reports to detect and respond to potential security incidents in a timely manner.
  • Generate regular security reports for management, summarizing key security metrics and incidents.

Experience & Necessary Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years relevant working experience in similar security focused role, 10 years preferred.
  • Industry-recognized certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or Security+ are highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing IT security policies and procedural frameworks, with knowledge of industry standards like NIST.
  • Strong hands-on experience with security tools, such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus, SIEM, etc.
  • Familiarity with vulnerability assessment and penetration testing methodologies.
  • Experience in triaging and responding to IT security incidents effectively.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements related to IT security in the pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Pay: $97,308 - $121,608 salary depending on experience
