JOB SUMMARY:

The Encompass Community Services IT Department has an opening for a full time Security Analyst. A relaxed atmosphere, dress code and generous hourly compensation relative to skill level required make this a fantastic position for someone with experience in enterprise IT security operation.

Encompass Community Services is the largest community-based nonprofit in Santa Cruz County and you’ll be helping to keep 30+ locations across the County running smoothly, gaining valuable experience with technologies traditionally found in large for-profit organizations.

In this role, you will work closely with our IT team to identify vulnerabilities, conduct risk assessments, and oversee security audits. Additionally, you will monitor network activity, investigate security breaches, and respond to incidents to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of our data.

Responsibilities for work will include:

• Analyze potential security threats and vulnerabilities
• Develop and implement effective security measures
• Conduct risk assessments and security audits
• Monitor network activity and investigate security breaches
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging threats
• Participate in incident response and recovery efforts
• Collaborate with IT team to ensure security controls are in place
• Perform security assessments of vendors and third-party providers
• Conduct periodic security testing and evaluations

Requirements

• Strong understanding of information security concepts and best practices
• Experience in vulnerability assessments and security audits
• Knowledge of network protocols and security tools
• Familiarity with industry standards, such as ISO 27001 and NIST
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience with incident response and recovery
• Knowledge of cloud security and virtualization technologies
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements, such as HIPAA
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Desired Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in IT Security
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
• CISSP, CISM, or related certification preferred

Wages & Benefits:
Our total compensation package includes a comprehensive medical and dental insurance plan for full time employees, 403(b) retirement plan, paid holiday, sick time, and 17 days of paid vacation, pro-rated for positions less than 40 hours a week.
