Implements, troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs server and network systems; provides consultation for complex technical problems.
Implements complex Network and server systems involving multiple groups, departments, and/or vendors in the installation, repair/maintenance, upgrade, monitoring. Monitors and manages server and network system performance for problems. Provides technical support functions and activities of the work unit. Examines and tests new administration tools, products and procedures to evaluate their effectiveness with existing systems. Troubleshoots Network and server problems at all levels of the system including physical wiring, hardware, or software failure and communications protocol problems; takes appropriate action to resolve such problems. Installs, repairs/maintains, de-bugs, and upgrades a full range of systems and provides system maintenance services including upgrades, and restocks of equipment for improved performance and more efficient use of space for equipment. Communicates with the IT Infrastructure Manager on findings and makes recommendations. Assist in performance of daily back-up and recovery, when necessary. Documents system and server configurations in detail. Responsible for knowing and abiding by all department and county policies and procedures.

Education. Associates Degree in a Computer Science related field.
Experience. Two (2) years in server and network administration.
Education/Experience substitution. In accordance with County Policy.
Licenses/Certifications. Must have a valid driver’s license. Comptia or Cisco certification(s) preferred.
Other (e.g., post-offer medical exam, polygraph, background check, driver’s license record, etc.). Must pass NCIC background check and driver’s license check.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION.
Must have knowledge of principles and techniques of Network and Systems maintenance, including data communications systems, server hardware and software, local area networks, wide area networks, hardware maintenance, document imaging systems, network printers and Microsoft Active Directory. Various computer operating systems, including Linux and Windows Servers. Methods of effective project planning and management. Business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic arithmetic. Must have skills to install, maintain and repair server and network systems. Participate in systems analysis and design. Analyze data and develop logical solutions to complex problems. Accurately identify and evaluate software needs and requirements. Write clear technical documentation. Communicate effectively, in oral and written form. Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with others.
