Job Summary
The LIMS IS&T Specialist is responsible for assistance with maintaining and supporting the LIMS server and Laboratory private virtual network and the MINICAMS® Chrom-Net interface. The IT Infrastructure Administrator maintains all computers on the private virtual network, installs new hardware, and maintains all analytical instrument computer interfaces. The IT Infrastructure Administrator monitors system backups (both LIMS and dedicated instrument computers) are current and stores those backups as instructed by the LIMS Administrator.
Responsibilities

• Assists with support for the LIMS server, private virtual network, and MINICAMS CHROM-NET interface. Under direct supervision, helps assure functional needs are met in a timely manner, interfaces with BGCAPP staff to ensure the systems are working accurately. Ensures documentation and adherence to corporate and site standards and configuration management.
• Provides routine day to day support for computers on the local area network, installs new hardware, and maintains all analytical instrument computer interfaces. Serves as primary "trouble shooter" for computers and network problems.
• Provides technical support to other staff. Provides day-to-day support for all human/computer interface issues.
• Under guidance performs the installation of new software updates as directed by the LIMS administrator.
• Monitors to ensure all software installed on local area network computers is current and that no unauthorized software is present.
• Monitors to ensures system backups for both LIMS and dedicated instrument computers are current, and backups are stored as instructed by the administrator.

Key Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Network Administration, Computer Science or Management and Information Systems or equivalent experience.
• Introductory skills in enterprise level virtual server (VMWare or equivalent) management are required.
• Network/server experience in Windows Server 2003 R2 OS or newer is required.

Additional selection and retention criteria will include the ability to:

• Successfully pass medical screen, including the ability to wear a respirator and other PPE, lift up to 50 lbs--may involve work in close proximity of toxic chemicals.
• Must be a US Citizen. The applicant selected will be subject to a national agency check security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to be placed in a Public Trust Position.
• Flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and/or changing priorities. This position may be required to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and on-call.
• Skills in relational database management and support for MS SQL desired.
• Interact effectively with government and contractor personnel thru written correspondence or verbal communication.
• Experience in laboratory instrumentation interfacing (Agilent Chemstation) is desired.
