Job description

Your work days are brighter here.

At Workday, it all began with a conversation over breakfast. When our founders met at a sunny California diner, they came up with an idea to revolutionize the enterprise software market. And when we began to rise, one thing that really set us apart was our culture. A culture which was driven by our value of putting our people first. And ever since, the happiness, development, and contribution of every Workmate is central to who we are. Our Workmates believe a healthy employee-centric, collaborative culture is the essential mix of ingredients for success in business. That’s why we look after our people, communities and the planet while still being profitable. Feel encouraged to shine, however that manifests: you don’t need to hide who you are. You can feel the energy and the passion, it's what makes us unique. Inspired to make a brighter work day for all and transform with us to the next stage of our growth journey? Bring your brightest version of you and have a brighter work day here.

About the Team

We are looking for an experienced Issues Management Communications Lead to join our Corporate Communications team. This individual will play a critical role in helping drive Workday’s response strategy on issues and crises, including efforts to operationalize the Issues Management Communications program. This role will focus on driving effective issues response management, including creating and deploying proactive messaging to control the narrative around an issue prior, during, and after.

About the Role

  • Continue building out operational elements as part of the Issues Management Communications function, including the development of preparedness plans and frameworks. This also includes helping to conduct two crises-focused tabletop exercises with executives each year.

  • Partner with colleagues in Corporate Communications and across the organization to map out communications channels, owners, and processes to help enable our response on issues and crises.

  • Help lead on our issues response efforts, including owning and managing the communications workstream and surfacing recommendations with executive decision makers.

  • Manage agency resources and budget to help ensure we are staffed appropriately and evaluate how external factors may impact our reputation. This also includes how we can continue to measure the impacts of our Issues Management response efforts.

About You

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, be comfortable being a company spokesperson, and have the ability to handle multiple projects and tasks at once. To be successful in our fast-paced, dynamic environment, the Issues Management Communications Lead must be able to navigate complex issues, and be able to think quickly in determining internal and external response strategies. The ideal candidate must be able to establish trust with executive stakeholders, be comfortable in a high-pressure environment, and be confident in owning and driving sensitive communications efforts. If this sounds like an opportunity that appeals to your skills and experience, we encourage you to apply.

Basic Qualifications

  • You have 8-10+ years of Communications experience in a corporate or agency environment as a company spokesperson.

  • You can focus under pressure, have executive maturity, and a collaboration approach.

  • You are a strategic thinker, with a proven ability to establish trust, build consensus, lead complex workstreams, and deliver effective communications to protect a company’s reputation.

Other Qualifications

  • Quick thinker, natural communicator, and can translate difficult concepts.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills.

  • You approach issues with a problem-solving mentality, and anticipate what’s next.

  • You are thorough and have excellent project management skills.

  • Enterprise technology and cybersecurity experience is preferred but not required.

Our Approach to Flexible Work

With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.

Pursuant to applicable Fair Chance law, Workday will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.

Workday is an Equal Opportunity Employer including individuals with disabilities and protected veterans.

Are you being referred to one of our roles? If so, ask your connection at Workday about our Employee Referral process!
