Pacific Golf & Turf, the Rain Bird Distributor for the Pacific Northwest, is seeking an Irrigation Service Specialist to support the needs of golf course customers throughout the region. Ideally, the candidate would be based out of Western Washington or Portland Oregon. However, other locations within PGT’s area of coverage would be considered the right candidate.
The Irrigation Service Specialist will be the first call from customers looking for help and assistance troubleshooting and diagnosing issues with their golf course irrigation systems. This individual will also conduct billable service, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance on systems with customers who need hands-on field support. In addition to service calls, the Service Specialist will also play a key role in the post-sale support of customers who recently completed irrigation system renovations with PGT/Rain Bird.
We are looking for the right person for our TEAM. This position requires someone who is a self-starter, entrepreneurial, detail oriented, dependable, and an excellent communicator. This position also requires a high percentage of travel (both locally, and regionally in the PNW). This may be a remote position for a candidate that lives in the Western Washington or Portland Oregon areas.
Some details and responsibilities for the position are:
- Internal service provider – supporting the sales team with technical questions, and assiting with In-house projects (smaller projects and retrofits not involving a full irrigation contractor)
- Install of controllers, communication equipment, programming and warranty
- External service provider – billable to customer hourly for diagnostics and support in the field, in addition to some flat rate services
- Assist with training of customers and sales people, as needed
- Auditiing of irrigation systems
- Satellite repair/installation
- Satellite preventative maintenance
- Weather station preventative maintenance
- Wire tracing
- Radio surveys
- Other duties as assigned
Qualification Requirements:
- Hands on irrigation system service experienced required (or other similar application with transferable skillset, i.e., agriculture, HVAC, hydronics, building automation)
- The candidate must have proven sales skills, be organized, have great communication skills, and must be willing to travel.
- Education: A college degree is preferred, but relevant experience is weighted higher in our evaluation.
- Become certified with all Rain Bird golf products and pump stations – (training provided)
- Pump experience preferred.
- Golf industry experience preferred.

Competitive Wage and Benefits package
- Non-exempt position, Full Time
- Competitive wage: $28.00 - $33.65 per hour DOE
- Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability & Life Insurance available. A 401(k) Plan is available, with a company match. Leave: 5 days’ vacation, and 5 days sick leave, accrual payable following 90-day introductory period. 8 holidays per year following the 90-day introductory period.
