GROUP DESCRIPTION:
Jefferies Global Healthcare Group provides a full suite of advisory and capital markets capabilities to clients across several sectors, including biotechnology, healthcare services, medical technology, and pharmaceuticals. The Healthcare Group consists of a team of approximately 100 bankers focused on providing services to clients in these sectors in North and South America, Europe, and Asia. The Global Healthcare Group is actively looking for experienced Associates for our Palo Alto, California office.
POSITION:
The Global Healthcare Group is actively looking for Investment Banking Associate that will support biotech and specialty pharma for Jefferies, a leading investment bank in the space. Scientific understanding is key to evaluating prospects, idea generation, etc. Clients range from large cap to small companies. Ideal background would be a PhD with some post-graduate work experience.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate in the execution of equity and debt financings, M&A, and restructuring and recapitalization transactions
Perform financial valuation, discounted cash flow, pro forma merger, precedent transaction, and comparable companies' analyses
Prepare pitch books and live deal materials, including offering memoranda, confidential information memoranda, management presentations, lender presentations, and prospectuses
Analyze detailed corporate and financial information, as well as conduct due diligence
Attending client meetings with MDs
Build financial / three-statement operating models
Conduct industry and product research
REQUIRED BACKGROUND:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
PhD with some post-graduate work experience.
Currently living in San Francisco, California, or willing to relocate
3 years of Investment Banking experience ideally in a healthcare (biotech/biopharma) coverage
DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
Detail-oriented with exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
Ability to manage a variety of transactions and projects simultaneously
Resourceful self-starter; able to work autonomously
PhD in a biotechnology-related field
Demonstrated team player and leader
Outgoing personality who can engage clients and team members
Strong written and verbal communication skills
The Salary range for this role is $175,000 - $225,000
