Job Summary:
This position will lead the investment analysis function and perform general portfolio management responsibilities associated with the Company's general account, pension, and foundation investment portfolios totaling over $4 billion. The individual will be responsible for providing oversight and direction to Junior Analyst(s), as well as managing key deliverables consistent with general portfolio management functions. Key responsibilities include: investment manager due diligence, asset class research, portfolio management, trade execution, investment risk management, advanced financial modelling, preparation of Investment Committee materials, variance analysis, and investment income forecasting
- Manage relationships with investment managers, consultants, custodians, and broker/dealers.
- Oversee trading operations, account activity, and adherence to investment guidelines.
- Perform investment and operational due diligence on investment managers
- Oversee the investment income variance analysis and forecasting process through management of the firm's proprietary investment income model
- Oversee and review individual fixed income securities with problematic credit profiles that should be considered for other than temporary impairment
- Manage and further develop the investment risk management process by partnering with Enterprise Risk Management and utilizing portfolio risk tools such as Aladdin and Bloomberg
- Develop research on new assets classes to and develop presentations to for the firm's Investment Committee
- Conduct attribution analysis on all existing managers and provide recommendations as required
- Utilize Wilshire Compass, Excel, and other tools to support investment decisions, asset allocation/portfolio optimization
- Develop financial models to support to support the investment analysis function
- Manage investment tools such as Aladdin, Bloomberg, Compass and serve as point of contact with vendors
- Manage the Company's short-duration fixed income strategy as well as US Treasury portfolio
Education/Experience:
- Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Finance, Accounting or Economics
- MBA preferred
- Requires five to ten (5-10) years of experience in investment management or a related function
- Experience in fixed income securities. Specifically, corporate bonds, ABS, MBS, CLO, CMBS, and government securities.
- Experience in managing insurance assets, NAICs Risk Based Capital framework, and portfolio construction
- Experience working with investment databases and systems
Additional licensing, certifications, registrations:
- CFA or progress towards obtaining CFA required
- FRM Preferred
Knowledge/Skills:
- Advanced Excel and Financial Modelling capabilities
- Solid understanding of GAAP Accounting / Requirements
- BlackRock Solutions Aladdin platform experience
- Compass platform Experience
- Requires excellent analytical skills
- Requires excellent oral and written communication skills
- Requires excellent organizational skills
- Requires the ability to work independently and exercise sound business judgment
- Requires strong PC skills and ability to develop analytics and reports
Salary Range:
$93,000 - $127,050
This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. This range has been created in good faith based on information known to Horizon at the time of posting. Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case.
