INVESTIGATOR (INVESTIGATOR 3)
As an OGEC Investigator, you will conduct investigations and prepare reports analyzing alleged violations of the laws within OGEC's jurisdiction. You will be responsible for obtaining and reviewing relevant information, interpreting applicable laws, and analyzing the information considering those laws. You will draft preliminary review and investigative reports presenting your analysis and recommendations. You will then present those reports and the members of the Ethics Commission will make the final determination of whether to adopt those recommendations and whether to impose civil sanctions. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Four years' experience (within the last ten years) doing full time investigative/administrative research that included compiling and evaluating facts to recommend management action or decide compliance with program guidelines and regulations.
Relevant experience includes conducting investigations, identifying issues, analyzing information to determine compliance with guidelines, laws, administrative rules, policies, and regulations, and drafting reports reaching conclusions and making recommendations. Legal training and experience with statutory interpretation is preferred.
College level course work may substitute for experience may substitute for one year of experience. Coursework or degrees in the following areas are considered most relevant: Law, Legal Studies, Criminal Justice, Accounting, or Auditing, or closely related field.

  • Analyze complex and diverse issues and identify relevant and pertinent facts and information

  • Write thorough and logical reports reaching conclusions and making recommendations supported by law and fact
  • Exhibit thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing tasks, no matter how small or large
  • Maintain a professional exchange of perspectives
  • Demonstrate a willingness to contribute to a positive, respectful, and productive work environment

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • This is a hybrid position. While Investigators will telework regularly (at least 2-3 days a week), they will also need to be in the office (in Salem) dependent on business, operational, or staffing needs, especially during the onboarding period.
  • Requires periodic driving/sitting in a vehicle during instate travel. Travel may involve overnight stays, adverse weather conditions and/or multiple passengers. Position requires a valid driver license to be maintained.
  • May require rare weekend or evening hours.
  • Position involves a high workload volume that can be unpredictable and fast paced.
  • Ability to work in an area of moderate noise level with distractions and maintain good working relationship with other employees in the unit/office. Requires daily computer usage, typing, talking, sitting, and standing.

  • Finalists will be subject to a computerized criminal history check. Adverse background data may be grounds for immediate disqualification.
  • The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the salary range will reflect an additional 6.95%. If the successful candidate is non-PERS qualifying, after six months the candidate will become PERS qualifying, and the salary will be adjusted automatically.
