Minimum Degree Level: High School Diploma.
Additional Position Comments: This is a contracted Interpreter for a maximum of 28 hours a week.
Reports to: Language Services Coordinator
Job Summary: Interpreters are responsible for facilitating cross-cultural communication through the process of converting one language into a different language in the education setting. This is a part-time and as needed position. Maximum hours/week: 28
Qualifications:

• Bilingual Ukrainian and English. Bicultural preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience working with immigrant families.
• Experience with coordinating educational services, including English as a Second Language (ESL)
• Comfortable working independently to deliver interpretative services throughout Buncombe County Schools.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.
• Possess own transportation and hold a valid NCDL and auto insurance.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Ability to work as needed, may include some afterhours events
• Work with BCS Language Services Coordinator to schedule interpretation needs
• Interpret for families at school enrollment and other appointments or events.
• Maintain accurate and timely mileage and activity logs.
• Travel in personal vehicle to various BCS locations to deliver services.
• Complete other duties as assigned by the BCS Language Services Coordinator
