Job description
1) Focus areas are:
a. Maximize sales to customers
b. Develop new customers
c. Develop new product lines to existing customers
d. Ship product effectively and ensure document delivery to avoid demurrage
e. Learn product details, history and origins, compile sales reports
f. Problem solving
2) Assist in spending controls to maximize pretax profit.
3) Ensure accounts are held within dollar limits.
4) Monitor account status and do collection work as needed.
5) Be a leader…. Set the pace for sales and hustle, punctuality, and attention to detail.
6) Be a cheerleader when others do well!
7) Contribute ideas and strategy for growing business: new products to help customers grow their business, investigate alternative sources, and identify different procedures we can do to increase our efficiency.
8) Send shipment updates to customers a minimum of once per month, ideally every two weeks for your larger customers. This should be done by your shipping assistant, but it is your responsibility to insure it is done.
9) Cover the shipment updates with your customers, especially when product is contracted over a long period of time and draw-down rates need to be considered. Keep suppliers aware of contract draw-down rates and timing, especially if there will be delays.
10) Identify market conditions that provide opportunity for sales, and ensure other salespeople are aware of opportunities.
11) Train assistants and other staff members on various office duties, logistics, products, strategies, and trading.
12) Adhere to and always keep in mind the principles of our business.
13) Bilingual Spanish/English - written/spoken communication.
Customer service, timeliness and accuracy of shipments and documents are critical to sustaining our present business, as well as the future growth of our company.
In general, the International Trader is responsible for generating sales, develop new customers and product sources. This position reports directly to company
executives.
