Buckley Fence is a leading manufacturer of premium fencing solutions for residential, commercial, and agricultural customers. We are looking for a dedicated International Purchasing Agent to join our team and contribute to our global sourcing efforts.
Position Overview: As the International Purchasing Agent at Buckley Fence, you will play a pivotal role in our procurement operations by sourcing materials and components from international suppliers. You will be responsible for supplier selection, negotiation, and maintaining strong supplier relationships. The ideal candidate will have a passion for global procurement, strong communication skills, and a detail-oriented approach to procurement processes.
A short initial training period will occur in-person in Commerce City, Colorado, where our warehouse is located. After that, the job will be remote.
Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Sourcing and Selection:
Identify and evaluate international suppliers, assessing their capabilities, quality, and reliability.
Collaborate with the purchasing team to identify potential suppliers for materials and components.
Conduct market research to identify new sources and cost-effective suppliers.
Negotiation and Contract Management:
Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with international suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions.
Ensure that contracts align with company objectives and quality standards.
Review and modify existing contracts as needed to optimize terms.
Supply Chain Coordination:
Work closely with logistics and supply chain teams to ensure timely and efficient delivery of materials.
Monitor and track shipments to ensure on-time deliveries and mitigate disruptions.
Maintain accurate records of shipments and supplier communications.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
Collaborate with quality control and assurance teams to ensure that suppliers meet or exceed quality standards.
Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, import/export laws, and company policies.
Address and resolve any quality or compliance issues promptly.
Cost Control and Optimization:
Analyze costs and conduct cost-saving initiatives to improve the company's profitability.
Continuously seek opportunities to reduce procurement costs while maintaining quality standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
Proven experience as a Purchasing Agent or in a similar role with international procurement responsibilities.
Strong knowledge of international supply chain management, logistics, and procurement best practices.
Excellent negotiation and contract management skills. Negotiation training and study is a plus (e.g. Karrass Negotiation Training).
Proficiency in using procurement software and tools.
Experience using ERPs, CRMs, Google Sheets or Excel, etc.
Proficiency doing financial analysis in spreadsheets.
Experience in tooling of complex parts.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Trustworthy, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
Experience working with Vietnam and China is a plus.
A valid US Passport is a plus.
Benefits:
Profit sharing. Full-time employees are eligible to participate in this program after 6 months.
Health insurance. Company pays 50% of premium. Full-time employees are eligible to participate after 90 days of work.
