DescriptionInternational Admissions Counselor
Midway University is seeking an organized, enthusiastic professional, to serve as International Admissions Counselor. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.The successful candidate will be organized, detail orientated, self-motivated, able to handle confidential information, as well as demonstrate an ability to managemultiple assignments and tasks simultaneously.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: recruit students for our traditional and graduate programs; responds to admissions inquiries via phone and email; respond to applicants regarding their application and materials submitted; and represent Midway University at virtual and in-person events. This position also advises new students in some cases. The successful candidate will work with other team members and departments across campus to complete the admissions process.
This position reports to the Executive Director for International Admissions.
An additional emphasis for the position is supporting international students through the admissions process via modern technologies such as Skype, WhatsApp, WeChat, and other methods. The successful candidate will also assist in developing, managing, and evaluating the effectiveness of our international student marketing and recruitment strategies as well as maintaining the relationships with the Consulates and US Education office abroad.
Serves as the Designated School Official (DSO), maintaining the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and all related certification requirements. Responsible for advising F1/F2 students on all matters related to their immigration status while studying. Maintaining accurate SEVIS record. Assist in keeping the school compliant with state, national, and organizational standards of compliance. Advises students with petitions, applications, and other standard issues related to F-1 visa status. This may include new F-1 visas, CPT/OPT work authorization, reinstatement, change of status, medical leaves, employment and/or reduced course load authorization. Advises on other personal, financial, enrollment, health insurance, travel, taxes, and scholarship/grant matters.
QualificationsQualifications
Required:Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university; master's preferred. Equivalent combination of education, experience, and training may also be considered. Ability to work evenings and weekends; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Strong record of achievement and adaptability to change; Valid driver’s license; Ability to exercise a high degree of diplomacy, discretion, and collaboration in dealing at all levels and working with confidential information.
Preferred:1-3 years of related work experience in an admissions, higher education or sales environment is highly desirable.
