*The internal title for this position is Internal Sales Mgr.
Overview:
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team of Securian Internal Wholesalers. The team is comprised of high energy professionals that collaborate with a wide variety of channel partners to provide creative, technical advice towards achievement of Securian sales objectives.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Managing internal wholesalers:

  • Updates with each wholesaler, preferably weekly and no less than monthly, to provide consistent mentorship and coaching.
  • Effectively enable and professionally develop internal wholesalers.
  • Ensures compliance with Securian and industry compliance rules when marketing our products.
  • Ensures that our wholesalers consistently deliver our value proposition.
  • Represents Distribution and wholesaling at various external and intra-company meetings.
  • Serves as first point of escalation for exception requests and/or advanced case consulting.

Provides leadership and insight to drive the key strategies of Distribution:
  • Partners with distribution leadership to implement and ensure best practices, while also identifying departmental training and development opportunities.
  • Assists with determining Internal Sales Desk initiatives and overall sales goal planning process.
  • Demonstrates leadership by executing Wholesaling priorities, initiatives and objectives.

Represent the interests of wholesaling with the product manufacturer.
Performs related activities as directed and manages personal self-development to prepare for new responsibilities and challenges in a changing environment.

  • Strong organization, planning and prioritizing skills needed to effectively balance multiple projects and/or tasks, including coordination with multiple departments and individuals.
  • Familiarity with life insurance sales concepts.
  • Effective writing skills to draft a variety of communications.
  • Excellent relationship management and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver a high volume of quality results with a sense of urgency.
  • FINRA Series 6 & 63
  • Detail oriented and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to effectively and successfully coach and develop sales associates.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Five years wholesaling experience and/or successful track record as a Securian Internal Wholesaler level 2 or 3
  • Deep understanding and competency around life insurance sales concepts
  • Familiarity with annuity sales concepts
  • FINRA Series 24 or 26
  • FINRA Series 7
  • Relevant Industry Designation(s)
  • Strong track record in four-year degree program
  • Relevant managerial experience

Securian Financial believes in hybrid work as an integral part of our culture. Associates get the benefit of working both virtually and in our offices. If you're in a commutable distance (90 minutes) you'll join us 2-3 days each week in our offices to collaborate and build relationships. Our policy allows flexibility for the reality of business and personal schedules. When working in our offices at least two days per week isn't feasible (vacations, illness, travel, etc.), an eight day per month standard is an option.
Physical Job Requirements:
  • Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week.
  • Ability to utilize telephone/headsets for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to perform grasping tasks throughout the entire workday.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of travel - up to 25% of role. This includes the ability to operate a motor vehicle as well as an ability to utilize air travel.
