Arlington Assembly is an automotive assembly plant at the cutting edge of product and manufacturing processes. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to learn new skills as well as influencing the development of manufacturing processes to support our World Class Luxury Sport Utility Vehicles.
Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Arlington Assembly on a full-time basis.
The Role:
The Plant Launch Operations Manager (PLOM) will share responsibility for the program launch with the Program Engineering Manager (PEM) and Manufacturing Integration Manager (MIM). The PLOM will be responsible for all Plant Readiness activities, operation readiness, and operator training and will lead the Plant Launch Team for all Manufacturing Builds Events (PVB, MCB, PPV, MVB). This position will primarily be first shift but will require the selected candidate to at times work extended non-core business hours.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
Product Interface & Issue Resolution Process
Support assembly/manufacturing input into product design/design changes
Participate in Virtual Engineering Activities from Virtual Integration Vehicle Assessment on
Co-Lead with the MIM the Launch Team and Daily Wrap Up meetings as required
Facilitates resolution of major plant issues across functional groups, ensuring that the problem-solving process is being utilized (PRTS), root causes established, owners assigned, and containment is in place
Develop an agreed-to single issues list for the program with the MIM and PEM
Program & Deliverables Timing
Holds team accountable to achieve manpower targets
Ensure execution of the quality plan developed by the Quality Launch Manager
Ensures that ergonomic reviews are occurring, and corrective actions are developed
Responsible for line balance, quality stations, torque monitoring, and error proofing equipment, including the attainment of the program GMS targets
Process Validation
Coordinates the assembly processing of the Process Verification Build units
Responsible for the development and execution, by department, of Build by Objective plans for the Manufacturing Build Events
Responsible to “operationalize” the manufacturing validation build plan to support the acceleration schedules and ensure it comprehends the plant build restrictions
Ensures that the total plant simulation has been performed and throughput issues are identified and driven to resolution
Administration
Engage in discussions with the MIM and MCE for the staffing of the Launch Team
Coordinates with plant M.E. leadership the necessary manpower at the assembly plant to create and publish a weekend work package, which identifies all work being performed at the plant during construction and all launch phases of a new product program
Establishes and communicates the Plant Launch travel and communication plan
Establish housing requirements, communication devices, and launch action center facilities for the Launch Team
Co-lead with the MIM a Global Launch and MVB workshop
Oversee the execution of the Global Launch Process
Responsible for facility issues, including manpower staffing to support dimensional checks, additional quality reviews, GCA, Direct Run Targets and Master Dot Process
Manages the pre-production budget requirements, resources and material
Education & Training
Identifies and develops the Launch Team training plan and execution for both salary and hourly personnel
Define, staff and train all Plant Issue Teams (PIT) for the launch
Implements lessons learned from previous programs and captures lessons learned during the program execution
Deliverables
Responsible for the flawless execution of the program deliverable within the Assembly Plant
Identify and resolve issues to ensure a successful launch

Additional Description
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):
10 years of experience working in automotive manufacturing
Automotive launch experience
People leader experience
Ability to work off-shift and overtime as needed
Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing related field or equivalent experience
Ability to travel around 20% of the year (domestically)
Familiar with global vehicle launch process
High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
High level of oral and written communication skills
Sound knowledge of quality processes
Experience/knowledge of GM Global Manufacturing System (GMS)
Knowledge of continuous improvement processes (CIP)

10+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing
Multiple automotive launch experiences
Background in quality
Electrical systems /software experience
Production manufacturing engineering / product engineering experience
Master's degree in manufacturing related field
