Description
The Internal Loan Review Officer is responsible for conducting an independent review and risk assessment of the Bank’s various commercial loans, ensuring adherence to Bank credit policies, procedures and processes, underwriting guidelines, and applicable laws, rules, regulations, in addition to determining that risk is accurately identified via the Bank’s Internal Loan risk rating system to ensure the Bank maintains a sound loan portfolio. The Internal Loan Review Officer will provide management and the board with an objective, independent, and timely assessment of the overall quality of the loan portfolio.
Essential Functions
Ensure compliance with all banking laws, rules, regulations, and prescribed policies/practices/procedures necessary to reduce risk and uphold ethical standards.
- Promotes and maintains a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a positive, professional manner to work effectively with co-workers, management, and partners.
- Ensure document and data integrity.
- Identify and resolve problems/issues.
- Evaluate effectiveness of credit policies and procedures, identify weaknesses, provide suggestions for strengthening.
- Identify relevant portfolio trends that may indicate changes in the credit risk.
- Complete reviews for adherence to Loan Policy and related procedures at origination and ongoing monitoring and servicing of the loan validating the loan risk grade assigned. Make recommendations to adjustments to the loan risk grade.
- Monitor and analyze credit related regulatory developments and determine how the Company may be affected by the new regulatory guidance.
- Prepare Loan Review finds report.
- Produce reports and statistics as required.
- Be a resource for Credit Administration, Commercial lending, Loan Servicing, Compliance, and Internal Audit.
- Work as part of a team.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Business preferred.
- 5+ years’ experience in credit analysis, credit/Loan Review or commercial lending preferred.
- Ability to apply advanced financial analysis techniques required.
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
