Internal Audit Specialist (Ias)

The Complaint Resolution Specialist will report to our Compliance Department; however, they will also work with individuals in all departments company-wide regarding complaint trending and process improvements.

SUMMARY: The IAS will conduct audits on patient accounts and HME processes in effort to improve customer and company outcomes from equipment and services provided. IAS will conduct audits on the entire patient experience in cases of complaints filed against HME Specialists from several sources, as well as focused audits that will review specific internal processes to determine areas where improvements should be made.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes but is not limited to the following:

• Take phone calls from patients and providers to document compliments and complaints about services provided by HME Specialists for all lines of business.
• Research and document the timeline leading to and potentially what occurred regarding the complaint filed.
• Provide feedback to leadership regarding complaint findings and recommendations for improvement.
• Process incident reports filed by field staff during service visits to document equipment errors and issues with services provided.
• Receive communications on compliments and complaints sent via email
• Complete internal process audits as necessary to assist in performance/quality improvement within departments.

Role-Based Access to Protected Health Information: Category 1: The Internal Audit Specialist (IAS) is granted ongoing and regular access to Protected Health Information (PHI). This category provides unrestricted privileges to the access, use, and disclosure of PHI, which may be in the form of mail; forms, and/or other documents including encrypted email messages; verbal information (telephone and face to face); and PHI information stored on computer systems and manual systems. Access, use, and disclosure must be for cause, consistent with job responsibilities, and related to HME Specialists business purposes. Category 1 staff must apply the minimum necessary standard in all instances where PHI is accessed, used, and disclosed.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 2 years Healthcare experience

LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software and Spreadsheet software.
