This position reports to the Dean of the Culinary Institute of Charleston (CIC). Under limited supervision, the Food Service Specialist manages all CIC Food Service operations phases, including all related contracts. This position performs various functions independently, including planning, facilities maintenance, scheduling, food preparation and service, and Food Service contract relations management. This position will maintain open communication and accomplish tasks with the supervisor, department heads, and chef instructors.
This position requires a high school diploma and supervisory experience in quantity and quality cooking. Ideal candidate will have an associate degree and four (4) years of supervisory experience in quantity and quality cooking or a high school diploma and six (6) years of supervisory experience in quantity and quality cooking.
Knowledge of food inventory channels/vendors, culinary systems, strong computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis in Excel and Word. Culinary Food Service experience. Budget oversight and cost controls for purchasing food products. Strong communication and customer service skills. This position, as with all positions within the Culinary Institute of Charleston at Trident Technical College, requires many work hours some on weekends or nights due to the varying schedule of classes and other programs offered. Flexibility is a must in scheduling work time. A valid driver's license is needed for proper transportation of products and equipment to various campuses and events.
