The Undergraduate Research Internship offers an exceptional opportunity for University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire students to engage in collaborative research projects in artificial intelligence and biomedical informatics with Mayo Clinic Health System (MCHS) - Northwest Wisconsin region. This hybrid position provides the flexibility of combining in-person and remote work, with the schedule to be determined by the principal investigator.
Interns will participate in hands-on experience in their chosen field of study, focusing on the integration of AI techniques in healthcare and medical research. They will be mentored by professionals from both UW-EC and MCHS, gaining insights into advanced research methodologies and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Responsibilities include participating in data analysis, developing machine learning models, and potentially contributing to research publications or presentations. The intern will also observe and learn from the functions and processes of the assigned work unit at MCHS. Selected work assignments will be provided to reinforce the learning experience, assess performance, and offer tangible benefits to the work unit. The intern is required to complete all internship-related assignments and reports for both MCHS and UW-EC. The duration and timing of the internship will be coordinated with the intern and UW-EC, adhering to the academic calendar.
