This is a great opportunity to learn how the law and business intersect and to work directly with a small team of lawyers, including MGI's SVP, General Counsel.Schedule: 10-12 week summer program. Approximately 36 hours per week during normal business hours (Monday through Thursday 9-5 p.m. and Friday 9-1:30 p.m.).Location: Corporate headquarters in Paramus, New Jersey.
Must be available to work on-site 3 days per week.This is a PAID summer 2024 internship / Summer Associate position.Program DescriptionWe will identify the specific regulation(s) for analysis. You will thoroughly read the regulation(s) and, based on the statutory language, identify any questions that need to be answered to determine the regulation's application to MGI. You will conduct additional research to answer any legal questions, and we will help you answer any business questions.
For any regulation that you conclude applies to MGI, you will summarize the steps to achieve compliance. Your research and conclusions will be added to MGI's regulatory tracker for the Company's future reference.Example regulatory topics include product labeling, supply chain transparency, supplier labor practices, plastic reduction / extended producer responsibility / waste disposal, pay transparency and pay gap reporting, chemicals management, and environmental, social & governance (ESG) reporting requirements.Skills that will make you successful:* Proficient at researching, reading and interpreting statutes within their governing context* Able to translate statutory language into common speech* Logical and practical problem-solver, especially where there may not be a clear or definitive answer* Exceptional oral and written communication skills* Awareness of and ability to adapt to global cultures and customs* Comfortable operating in highly dynamic environments* Self-starter capable of working independently and effectively with minimal supervisionCandidate requirements:* Current law school student with a demonstrated track record of success* Strong practical writing sample* Interest in business law / in-house generalist preferredApplication Process:All considered applicants will need to apply directly on our career website at (www.careers.movadogroup.com)If you are not applying directly on our career website (www.careers.movadogroup.com), responding to this post and/or providing a resume for this job does not constitute submission of an application.
