The Information Technology Division (ITD) of the State Court Administrator's Office (SCAO) is seeking an Intern .Net Developer to support the business needs of the Minnesota Judicial Branch Information Technology projects. In this summer internship, the intern will gain knowledge of working within state government, the Minnesota Judicial Branch, and within an Information Technology team. The intern will be part of a team of developers that are part of a larger team including business analysts, developers, and SharePoint staff.
Example of Duties
The following are examples of major job duties expected for this position to perform.
- Collaborate: Work closely with the team to produce high-quality software solutions.
- Develop: Design, develop, test and document applications and web services that perform the functions specified in the business design by using SQL Server, Visual Studio, C#, .NET and reporting services. Troubleshoot existing applications with respect to database, security, web services, and third-party tools.
- Innovate: Demonstrate analytical skills to understand the requirements and define appropriate solutions. Develop innovative approaches and solutions to technology challenges.
- Ensure Quality: Ensure that code quality is high, and testing is robust.
- Make a Difference: Develop and support tools and applications that support the mission of the MN Judicial Branch in serving the citizens of Minnesota.
Typical Qualifications
Below are the past experiences that will enable success in the role. For education requirements listed, the equivalent number of years of related experience may serve as a substitute.
Minimum Requirements
- Current enrollment in vocational or technical school, college, university, or graduate or professional school.
- Completed 2 or more years at an accredited technical school, college, or university with coursework in Management Information Systems, or Computer Science.
- Proven ability to write code using .Net or C#.
- Major GPA of a 3.0 or above. Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above.
- Experience with SQL.
- Successful candidate will be subject to a criminal background check.
- Knowledge of software and programming design, organization, paradigms, and practices.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent Communication skills; both written and oral.
- Fast learner and motivated to complete tasks quickly.
- Possess proficient process and technical writing skills.
Salary
The expected starting salary range is $16.37-$19.23 per hour. The full salary range is $16.37-$22.08 per hour. Starting salary will be based on the selected candidate's level of experience and related skills. This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for State of MN employee benefits.
Supplemental Information
Position Logistics
This full time, temporary position is classified as Intern Professional. Internship will begin after the school year ends and will run for 90 days. The position will work normal business hours Monday through Friday. Work will be conducted in a hybrid setting at the Minnesota Judicial Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. In-person work will be required approximately one time per month. This role will report to directly to the Supervisor of Application Development and will work closely with at least one team member who will provide onboarding and technical direction.
