JOB SUMMARY
Our Summer Internship Program at Sysco is a 10 week paid program designed to enhance your education by providing real-world experience. At Sysco we challenge you, stretch you, and prepare you for your future through what will be a rewarding, world-class experience with the leader in the foodservice industry.
Your internship is designed to provide you with the skills and professional experience to take with you well beyond the classroom. During the 10-week program, you are involved in much more than the day-to-day operations of the company.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • As an intern, you are exposed to relevant projects and challenges in a dynamic environment.

  • Planned social activities provide exposure and opportunities for you to network with leading industry professionals.
  • Offer a variety of learning experiences through training, development, and mentorship while completing a meaningful project to support and drive the business.
  • Assist in the daily inspection of Sysco/FreshPoint Natural Brand, Sysco Natural Organics, Sysco Imperial Fresh Brand, Sysco Reliance Fresh, and sourced packer label products for quality, packaging, labeling and Food Safety.
  • Communicate effectively with western suppliers' field personnel (i.e. harvest foremen, commodity supervisors, field FSQA, tractor drivers, truck drivers, forklift drivers, cooler foremen, cooler dispatch, cooler forklift drivers), concerning production of or possible production of Sysco/FreshPoint Brands. This may include special instructions needed to pack Sysco Brand products to meet our requirements. An example would be to not harvest a certain portion of a field or to harvest specific quality units to meet our requirements.
  • Evaluate potential fields for Sysco/FreshPoint Brand production, following Sysco QA's field evaluation SOP. The decision must be communicated effectively and timely, so the supplier may prepare for the subsequent harvest.
  • Evaluate product in supplier coolers, which contain daily inventories of Sysco/FreshPoint Brand items, and/or sourced packer label volume. Cooler evaluations create an understanding of the extent of the day's Brand production, sampling for quality, packaging integrity, temperature, and rotation, as directed in Sysco QA's cooler evaluation SOP.
  • Evaluate value added production, against the corresponding Sysco specifications; this includes overseeing the collection of samples, defect analysis, cut-size analysis, coloration analysis, packaging integrity, and recipe compliance. (Reference Sysco QA's value-added items evaluation SOP.)
  • Utilize technology as made available by leadership to assist in approving, communicating and executing the daily inspections and reporting to management.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • Students pursuing a Bachelor's degree or Master's degree/MBA with concentrations in Accounting, Finance, Business Technology, Law, Supply Chain, Marketing, Journalism and broadcasting.
  • Strong academic credentials (Minimum GPA of 3.0)
