There are multiple intern opportunities available. Positions will be located at our Lincoln Park office in Herndon, VA.
Interns will work alongside experienced Dominion Electrical Equipment personnel providing technical assistance to substation and power station personnel in the installation, maintenance and repair of high-voltage electrical equipment including procurement of materials, spare parts and specific tools. These positions will be introduced to the Electrical Equipment Development Program for view of employment requirements of successfully completing the Development Program.
Interns may assist experienced personnel employee including the following activities including: Substation equipment (transformer, circuit breaker, regulator, CCVT, etc.) testing; Aerial lift testing; Infrared testing; Transformer/circuit breaker oil sample collection and DGA review; Transformer processing; Battery and charger installation and testing.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & ExperienceRequired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Must be currently enrolled in a 2 year or 4 year degree in Instrumentation Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics, Electrical, Electrical & Electronic Engineering Technology, Electromechanical or a similar related degree
Must have an anticipated graduation date of spring 2025 or later
Must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher.
Strongly prefer candidates that desire "hands on" experience vs. "design" experience
Strongly prefer candidates with good problem solving skills while working with mechanical and/or electrical equipment
Experience with Microsoft Office
Math and technical/mechanical aptitude required
Must be able to follow instructions and be a team player
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
Time management and organization
Abilities: test basic and routine types of protective relays; lift up to 50 lbs.; manual dexterity; color vision; hearing; climbing; stooping; standing; bending
Due to equipment weight limits, individuals in this role have a weight restriction of 290 pounds.
