The Project Developer Intern (PDI) is responsible for supporting project development from the origination of projects through to permitting and initial design. This Internship is preferred to be local to Bloomington, MN (Remote/Hybrid is a potential). The PDI assists Project Developers, Directors, specialists, and external consultants to prepare for and manage site land acquisition, lease negotiation, site surveys, permitting, marketing, and/or pricing. The PDI will also assist in the coordination with regional and corporate teams in Resource Assessment, Legal, Land/Title, Transmission, Engineering, Accounting, Geospatial, Project Finance, Valuation & Transactions, Operations & Maintenance, Asset Management, and Business Development, as needed.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with others on the Development team on issues relating to land and permitting;
- Conduct research and analysis to support project siting, marketing, and other competitive intelligence;
- Use various digital tools including ArcGIS Online and Google Earth to produce maps and analysis of project areas;
- Support financial analysis and evaluation of projects and competitor projects;
- Assist in the creation of project timelines and schedules;
- Analyze complex problems and recommend a course of action;
- Participate in project meetings and take detailed notes, as required;
- Support the creation of project status reports, presentations, and briefings for all levels of management;
- Assist Project Developers in the origination and development process on behalf of EDF Renewable Energy, including but not limited to, preliminary energy assessment, completion of interconnection processes, land control, environmental/permitting process through approval, preliminary engineering and support for construction and project financing;
- Participate in engagement with landowners to negotiate lease and easement agreements for new and existing projects;
- Support contract land acquisition specialists in lease legal review and negotiation;
- Evaluate and help coordinate studies and analysis required to support permits, environmental reporting, project interconnection and greenfield project development; and,
- All other job-related duties as assigned by the Regional VP, Director, or Project Developers.
Skills to acquire:

- Conducting competitive analyses and identifying new site prospects
Qualifications

Education/Experience:
- Preferred major in Business, Economics, Public Policy, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
- 0-2 year's professional experience.
- Demonstrable aptitude for project management; working knowledge of renewable energy preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, accountability, and time management skills required.
- Highly motivated self-directed contributor, with key leadership traits and a curious disposition.

Working Conditions:
85% of time in an office environment, 15% travel to project sites and public meetings
