Position Summary
Under the supervision of a registered Cardiac Sonographer, acquires the knowledge to perform cardiac procedures to assess cardiac structures, and hemodynamics in accordance with accepted protocols as directed by the Medical Director and the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) and American Society of Echo. Responsible for learning and operating various types of imaging machines.
- Three Year Commitment will be required upon completion of program, see Contract for details. Individual will be evaluated continuously and will be promoted to Cardiac Sonographer within 12 months upon successfully completion of Cardiac Sonographer Registry (ARDMS or CCI).
- Candidate will be reimbursed after successful completion of Registry.
- Didactic materials will be provided by department.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Accredited two-year Allied Health Degree or a Bachelor’s degree with Anatomy and Physiology 1 & 2.
Experience
- N/A – On the job training to be provided as part of program

Core Job Responsibilities
- Sets up and adjusts all equipment and manually maneuvers transducers to perform exams under the supervision of a registered Cardiac Sonographer
- Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures
- Performs routine echocardiograms, requiring critical thinking skills, and decisive judgement under the supervision of a Registered Cardiac Sonographer
- Recognizes significant structures, artifacts, pathology, and equipment limitations
- Attends 75% of annual departmental meeting, in-services and actively participate in continuing education activities
