Holm Design - Critical Values
Holm Design is an interdisciplinary design firm built on intentionality, creative satisfaction, and kindness. It is our belief that design is a holistic exercise driven by human experience, compelling narratives, and a belief in the profound power of beauty.
The process of design is both a collaboration and a challenge, and therefore requires great skill, but also great empathy for the client. Our strength is in using our creative problem solving and collaboration to find the best answers that make spaces sing.
The end result is user joy through great design.
Work-Life Balance
While hard work during normal work hours is valued at Holm Design, we know that creative minds need to be rested and nourished in order to work well. Employees are encouraged to take breaks in service of good work.
To that end:
- Out of office means out of office. Being unavailable is a value sometimes. There is no such thing as a design emergency. Courtesy is always key, though: always make sure clients are aware of your absence well ahead of your adventures (1-2 weeks minimum).
- The meeting is the meeting. Meetings are utilized to help make good group decisions, and those decisions almost always can be made within a set timeframe with all interested parties. Meetings are to be precise, to the point, and well-planned in order to create time for designers to work effectively in service of the client.
- The world is your classroom. Travel and design exploration is strongly encouraged. Few things spawn great new ideas like taking in a new place.
- Books are Magic. The History of Design is the greatest marketplace for great ideas. Holm Design keeps an extensive library and encourages “book breaks” for new idea generation. New library suggestions are always welcome.
