Duties & ResponsibilitiesGoal Setting
- Perform assessments to understand clients' current health and wellness status, including physical, mental, emotional, and lifestyle factors.
- Collaborate with patients to establish wellness goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART goals).
- Assist patients in creating personalized action plans to achieve their wellness goals, considering their individual needs, preferences, and resources.
- Assist patients in identifying and overcoming barriers to change, and help them develop strategies to modify behaviors that may be hindering their wellness.
- Regularly assess and monitor patients' progress towards their wellness goals, track outcomes, and make necessary adjustments to the action plan as needed.
Lifestyle Modification
- Offer information, resources, and guidance on various aspects of wellness, such as nutrition, exercise, stress management, sleep hygiene, and self-care practices.
- Support patients in making positive lifestyle changes by providing strategies, tools, and accountability to help them adopt healthier habits and routines.
- Encourage and motivate patients to stay committed to their wellness goals, providing ongoing support, encouragement, and feedback throughout their journey.
Group Facilitation
- Assist in the development and implementation of wellness programs or initiatives.
- Lead or co-facilitate support groups to provide education and skill-building opportunities related to wellness topics, such as healthy eating, fitness, mindfulness, and stress reduction techniques.
- Create a safe and inclusive environment for individuals to share their experiences, learn from one another, and build a sense of community.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of interactions, progress, and outcomes. Complete required documentation and reports in a timely manner.
Continuous Learning
- Stay updated on new research, best practices, and emerging trends in the field of mental health and substance abuse recovery. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills. This could also include participation in future research projects.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proven experience working as a life coach or Recovery Coach, preferably with a focus on addiction recovery.
- Strong knowledge of addiction recovery principles, holistic wellness approaches, and coaching techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish a trusting relationship with clients.
- Empathy, compassion, and non-judgmental attitude towards clients.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to support effective coaching sessions and goal tracking.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional boundaries and ethical guidelines.
- Willingness to collaborate and work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including mental health professionals and other support staff.
- One (1) year of relevant work experience required.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
