Integrated Behavioral Health Clinician / Consultant (Phd, Psyd, Lmhc)

Summit Health is seeking an integrated Behavioral Health Clinician/Behavioral Health Consultant to provide embedded services in adult primary care settings in either White Plains or Rye, New York. These services include assessments, brief interventions, consultations, and navigation to adults struggling from both emotional and medical conditions. The candidate will become part of a team consisting of physicians, nurses, Behavioral Health Clinicians and psychiatrists focused on quickly providing help to patients and support to medical staff working to care for all aspects of their patients’ needs.

Candidate must have knowledge of evidence-based treatments for common mental disorders, familiarity with brief, structured intervention techniques (e.g. Motivational Interviewing, Behavioral Activation) and a desire to become skilled in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Experience working with patients who have co-occurring mental health and physical health problems preferred. is required. Knowledge of community resources required.

Position Summary:

Provides short-term Integrated Behavioral Healthcare services to the patients and the physicians of the Summit Medical Group.

Essential Job functions:

• Provides individual or group treatment in a primary care environment.
• Treats adults or geriatrics.
• Performs crisis intervention as needed.
• Performs accurate patient evaluations and makes appropriate treatment recommendations and referrals.
• Sets clear and specific treatment goals.
• Researches and employs evidence-based solution-focused treatments.
• Demonstrates effective patient communication including empathy, collaboration, and patient education.
• Demonstrates effective treatment outcomes and patient satisfaction.
• Completes accurate and timely patient documentation.
• Works collaboratively with referring physicians and follows up in a timely manner.
• Engages in projects and the development of treatment programs as requested.
• Provides educational programs to Summit Health and the community as requested.
• Adheres to the ethics of their profession and the regulations of the NY State Board of Examiners
• Productivity – maintains established average weekly patient volume Length of stay – maintains established average length of stay.
• Accepts and utilizes clinical feedback provided in clinical and peer supervision.

General Job functions:

• Uses appropriate assessments in a primary care environment.
• Uses simple and concrete interventions that can be supported by primary care team members.
• Conducts rounds on a daily basis.
• Works to ensure that physicians, nurses, medical assistants and other staff know about their services and how to access those services.
• Keeps consultations and primary care related sessions to 15-30 minutes.
• Conducts effective curbside consultations.
• Readily available to providers.
• Develops group protocols and delivers them to patients in a timely and effective way.
• Makes appropriate entries in the Integrated Behavioral Health registry.
• Engages in telephonic interventions are required.
• Other job duties as required.

Computer and Training Requirements:

• Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing required.
• Training and experience in solution focused therapies and interventions preferred.
• Past work experience with physicians, nurses and medical staff required.
• Ability to multi - task, organize & prioritize workload.
• Familiarity with a wide range of both mental and physical illnesses and conditions preferred.
• Experience with Standard Office Equipment (Phone, Fax, Copy Machine, Scanner, Email/Voice Mail) preferred.
• Experience with Standard Office Technology in a Window based environment preferred.

Education and Licensure:

• Master’s Degree required. Doctorate degree preferred.
• 3 years’ experience at the Master’s degree level, 5 years’ preferred; 1 year experience required at the Doctorate level, 3 years’ preferred.
• NY State License in Social Work, Professional Counseling or Psychology required.
• PhD, PsyD, LCSW, LMPC
• 3+ years’ experience treating a primary care population.

Pay Range $66,000.00 to $90,000.00.

The provided compensation range is based on industry standards and salary determinations will be made based on numerous factors including but not limited to years of experience and location of position.
