About the Job:
The Insurance Verification Specialist undertakes a variety of tasks with the primary focus of verifying insurance coverage and benefits from a variety of payors. Completes assigned work in a timely fashion and reports any issues or obstacles to ensure swift resolution. Identifies payor trends proactively in relation to OON payors. Completes projects as requested by manager.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Verifies all in and out of network insurance coverage by phone and/or electronically as appropriate.
• Assists facilities in verifying Medicaid insurance coverage when needed.
• Assists Admission Center in determining patient’s responsibility if applicable electronically and/or by phone as appropriate.
• Enters all insurance information clearly and accurately into records system.
• Audits the admission packets and verifies benefits along with all patient demographic information in the patient accounting system.
• Provides financial counseling to patients and/or guarantors and collects any out of pocket (deductibles, copays, exhausted days, etc.). Provides information to the patient and/or guarantors regarding their benefits and financial obligations.
• Completes financial disclosure paperwork for patients that request assistance including verifying income and expenses.
• Completes adjustment forms for any charity or administrative adjustments for approval.
• Completes promissory notes for patients that request payment arrangements.
• Updates daily the upfront collection log, charity log, and admin adjustment log. Reviews with BOD on a weekly basis.
• Gathers and interprets data from system and understands appropriate course of action to take and initiates time-sensitive and strategic steps resulting in payment.

Education/Experience/Skill Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two or more years of Insurance Verification experience in facility practice, physician practice, or medical billing office required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $23.00 per hour
