Job Description
The Insurance Verification Representative interfaces with parents, Medi-Cal, California Children Services (CCS), Managed Care, third party payers and physicians to ensure all notification, verification, and authorization activities are completed for Hospital Services. As appropriate, works with the financial counselors to identify alternative sources of coverage for services and helps to facilitate the Medi-Cal or CCS application process. This position updates all demographic and insurance information in the STAR system identified during the Insurance Verification process. Coordinates with the Clinical Care Coordinators (CCCs), and Physician offices/clinics, to obtain medical information that is necessary for authorizations. Works as the gatekeeper to make sure Medi-Cal and CCS accounts have up-to-date authorizations.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 1 year of hospital experience preferably in registration, 1 year Insurance Verification experience. Knowledge of insurance payers, inter office communication skills, ability to use a calculator to determine percentages, managing and prioritizing an everchanging worklist and the ability to use a multifunction device for scanning and faxing.
Education/Licensure/Certification: High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
Pay Scale Information: USD $34,944.00 - USD $56,212.00
