Job Summary:
This position verifies insurance eligibility and benefits for scheduled appointments and surgeries and verifies if a prior authorization is required for procedures scheduled or if a PCP referral is required for specialist appointments. If a prior authorization is required, this position will submit a request to the insurance company. Answer incoming phone calls and answer any financial questions.

Responsibility and Duties:
Verify active insurance coverage and obtain required authorizations:
- Benefit investigation
- Verify Prior Authorization requirements
- Verify Primary Care Referral requirements
Patient Assistance Programs:
- Verify if patient is eligible for any outside assistance programs
- Enroll patient and inform patient of assistance program benefits
Financial Estimates for procedures or outpatient surgery
Answer incoming phone calls
- Patient financial questions
- Patient payments
- Post and apply payments
Billing Department Faxes
- Check fax drive
- Distribute faxes to be worked
Other duties as assigned
Equipment/systems operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Practice Management Software, etc.
Work Environment: Position is in a well-lighted, on-site, medical office environment. Potential for occasional evening and weekend work.
Physical Requirements: Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with in this type of role such as sitting for 80 percent of the day; manual dexterity to operate office machines including computer and calculator; stooping, bending to handle files and supplies; and mobility to complete errands or deliveries, lifting up to 20 lbs.

Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
