The Insurance and Risk Specialist/Manager reports to and assists the General Counsel with all aspects of risk management and will be responsible for developing and overseeing the administration of Crest companies’ insurance programs. The individual in this role must be adaptable, engaged, and focused on supporting the business’ growing need for compliance and Risk mitigation. The Insurance and Risk Specialist/Manager must be fully aligned with the industry and operations of each business and have a thorough understanding of the corporate policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Insurance. Assesses companywide insurance needs by monitoring business operations and evaluating current policies to identify gaps and/or overlaps in coverage. Anticipates all insurance policy renewal applications and collaborates with all related internal departments to provide supporting information that will accompany the renewal applications. Handles all certificate of insurance requests and general insurance/prequalification inquiries. Understands complex insurance language and is able to communicate with brokers to ensure policies are bound properly. Coordinates with General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel on claims that result in litigation.
  • Contracts. Reviews contracts for insurance requirements and coordinates with legal department and business units to revise contractual language on insurance provisions.
  • Corporate Policies/Procedures. Works with General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel to draft, establish and audit companywide Insurance and other risk management policies and procedures.
  • Systems. Collaborates with Legal Office Manager to develop workflows within legal operations software to administer and oversee compliance with insurance requirements across all business units.
  • Risk and Compliance. Must fully comprehend the company’s strategies on risk with the ability to implement and execute these strategies through best practices and operating standards. Conducts assessments and recommends management solutions to ensure maximum benefit to the company and acceptable exposure to risk.
  • Training. Collaborates with in-house legal department personnel to plan and carry out training programs for commercial and project teams on identification and reporting potential insurance claims, claim investigation and defense strategies.
  • Business Operations Focus / Building Relationships: Works with Crest leadership and team members to develop long-term relationships for the advancement of its businesses.
  • Other: Carries out other special projects which may be necessary for the support of the company.
Requirements:
Minimum of three years relevant experience in insurance with specific knowledge of business and commercial insurance policies, including but not limited to specialty and industry-specific policies such as professional liability, inland marine, and builder’s risk policies. Three or more years required for Specialist level position; seven or more years required for Manager level position.
  • Bachelor’s degree in insurance, risk management, business or related field. May substitute education with additional direct relevant experience.
  • Must be committed to continuous improvement. Successful candidates will be expected to attend and successfully complete continuing education programs on specialty Insurance and Risk management topics (e.g., CRIS certification classes through IRMI).
  • Must have superior analytical skills and communication ability (verbal and written).
  • Ability to work independently and proactively, manage competing priorities and deadlines, exercise sound judgment, and take ownership to drive matters through successful conclusion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Share the company’s purpose and values, including high ethical standards, teamwork, customer service mindset, and positive attitude.
Business acumen with a focus on client-service.
  • Familiarity and comfort working with ERP and other accounting systems preferred.
  • Experience in an insurance brokerage, underwriting or other direct insurance industry or risk management experience evaluating business or project risks preferred.

LOCATION:
On site in corporate headquarters in Pineville, LA. Will consider hybrid position for right candidate (2-3 days in office required).
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Will work primarily in an office environment with minimal exposure to dust, noise, and other environmental hazards. Some domestic travel may be required (10%-15%). Physical requirements include: Sitting, standing, walking. Mental requirements include: Problem solving, ability to concentrate, oral and written communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
