Job Description Summary
• Is responsible for the installation, servicing, repair and calibration of various electrical, pneumatic, and electronic control systems and instrumentation. The Instrumentation Tech strives to maintain the process control equipment in a manner that assures uninterrupted processing and packaging of quality potato products.
• Is responsible for the design, programming, repair and maintenance of all Programmable Logic Controller(PLC) systems.
• Must be able to work the scheduled days, shifts, times and overtime required for this position. Weekend on call requirements may be required based on management discretion and compensation will be reflective of on call duties.
• Is a recognized SME (Subject Matter Expert) on a minimum of 3 different pieces of equipment.
• Will have successfully passed the advancement test for Technician and demonstrates the skills, thought process and behavior of a leader.
Job Description
KEY LEAD RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties may be assigned.
  • Leading by example maintains and promotes safe work practices at all times, assuring that safe work practices are being followed in all work groups, and actively participates in safety programs.
  • Perform assigned duties and responsibilities in a safe and satisfactory manner. As needed, assists and coaches team members in safely performing the operation, repair and adjustment of plant equipment.
  • Must understand and comply with all known posted or generally accepted instructions, procedures, rules, practices, policies or other items covered in the Employee Handbook.
  • Ensures that established procedures are properly utilized and that the safe isolation, shut down, inspection, cleaning, adjustment, repair/overhaul or startup of equipment and systems are followed.
  • Works with plant Electricians as necessary to provide awareness on the functionality of all controls components of a system.
  • Consistently utilizes knowledge about the systems under their responsibility to review and optimize the operating and troubleshooting procedures and constructively coach team members as needed.
  • Instructs Technicians and Mechanics to carry out troubleshooting, repair and installation of complex control systems and instrumentation.
  • Tests, maintains and modifies control and process systems.
  • Create, install and troubleshoot Human Machine Interfaces(HMI) workstations throughout the facility.
  • Work collaboratively with management, IT, Plant and Corporate Engineers, Contractors, Vendors, Operators and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of governing Electrical code and Safety requirements including NFPA 70E.
  • Clearly and consistently demonstrates the knowledge, experience and desire to share learnings with fellow employees and outside resources to improve collaboration, safety, working relationships, and equipment performance. Sharing of this knowledge may be in the form of one on one or potentially a 'classroom style' setting.
  • Knowledge of network communication hardware and software inclusive of UPS, Power Supplies, Patch Panels, SPF Modules, Switches and Cables.
  • Knowledge of Communication Protocols including Serial, TCP/IP, HART, OPC, Device Net AS-I Net etc.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Maintain 6S standards, (Sort, Set, Systematize, Shine and Sustain). Keep a neat, clean, orderly work area.
  • Assures that housekeeping is performed at a frequency necessary to ensure that a safe, neat, clean and orderly work area is maintained in all areas of responsibility.
  • Is very proficient in the use of SAP. Is fully capable of utilizing SAP to locate equipment and any data in SAP on equipment such as drawings, schematics, parts, etc., as well as if the part is a stocked item in our plant Stores, the quantity on hand and the bin location. Through the use of SAP, is capable of identifying any other plant that would have the item on hand.
  • Provides accurate detailed information to Planner(s) of inaccuracies found in equipment BOM's or items needing added to equipment BOM's.
  • Ensures Notifications are submitted for deficiencies noted during the performance of tasks or through general observation that will improve and sustain reliability.
  • Is capable of assisting Stores personnel, when needed, to identify or locate needed equipment or parts in the secured Stores areas.
  • Captures data logging opportunities for the facility within Historian and makes trending available for reference in HMI systems.
  • Support project design, commissioning and startup activities.
  • Remote accessing servers with elevated privileges to access and maintain Process Control servers throughout the facility.
  • Working knowledge of Industrial networking including IDF's, Stratix switches, Network Address Translators, fiber, copper wireless, subnet addressing, vlans, gateways, bootp, smart ports and new technology.
  • Manage user profiles for Remote Desktop Access.
  • Participates in and helps drive VeLOCity DMS (Daily Management System) and other Lamb Weston Operating Culture programs as assigned.
  • Examines parts to detect imperfections, identify reason for failure, and to take corrective actions to eliminate recurring failure. Shares these learnings constructively with team members to encourage and develop these same capabilities within them.
  • Is proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and testing or specialty equipment necessary to execute the duties associated with this job. (Test or specialty equipment includes but is not limited to multimeters, meggers, infrared and laser alignment tools.)
  • Is able to proficiently cut and bond materials together utilizing various processes such as but not limited to welding, soldering, bolting, riveting, screwing, clip or caulking, to fabricate, repair or install materials and equipment to company specifications using verbal direction, prints, sketches, diagrams and blueprints. Is able to constructively coach/train others in these processes as necessary.
  • Reads, writes, and communicates fluently through the use of phones, e-mails, shift reports, logs, prints, sketches, diagrams, operating instructions, and technical manuals.
  • Assist Maintenance Team Leaders and Planners in the prioritization of planned work. Assists Maintenance Team Leaders and Planners in updating, streamlining, and improving our operational and repair programs.
  • Assist Maintenance Team Leaders and Planners in the coordination of ordering materials, supplies, and MRO safety stock.
  • Reads and comprehends blueprints, diagrams, operation and service manuals, and manufacturer's specifications of plant machinery and equipment, and can effectively communicate information obtained to others.
  • Qualified to operate Powered Lift Trucks, Scissor Lifts, Man Lifts, Snorkel Lifts and other equipment necessary to facilitate the execution of their various job functions including but not limited to the maintenance, removal, or placement of equipment, and/or the materials, supplies and tools associated with maintenance activities.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred; two year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent combination of four years education and related experience and/or training. Is currently at a Technician level. Prior Lead experience is a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, documents, operating and maintenance instructions, technical and procedure manuals, instructional materials and memos in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English. Ability to effectively present or listen to information in one-on-one and small group situations with all other employees of the organization in English.
MATHMATICAL SKILLS: Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and calculate proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY: Develop the skills necessary to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
