What You'll Do:
JOB TITLE: Sr. Instrumentation & Electrical Designer
POSITION SUMMARY:
- DESIGN
- Create and locate I&E equipment within a 3D model environment using AutoCAD, CADWorx & Navisworks in coordination with engineers and other discipline designers and
- Design site specific Power Distribution and Control Systems per company, client and industry standards that integrate into new or existing client facilities.
- Understands how to use PFD and P&ID documentation to determine project
- Prepare drawings and concept sketches to support construction work, change orders, estimates, etc.
- Prepare and disseminate all required documentation records such as status reports, punch lists describing work to be done, sketches of work already completed, material requirement calculations, etc.
- DRAFTING
- Prepare orthographic plan drawings from 2D and 3D models for installation of power and control systems showing Hazardous Area, Conduits, Cable Tray, Grounding & Instrument Location per company and client drafting standards.
- Develop installation detail drawings for all electrical and instrumentation equipment
- Size all cabinets, panelboards, cables, tray, and conduit per industry standards based upon project scope and vendor information.
- Prepare all one-lines, wiring & loop diagrams required for specified power and controls
- Recent work experience in preparing construction documents for electrical or control
- Apply quality control processes, check lists, take ownership and accountability for completed work.
- DELIVERABLE MANAGEMENT
- Research, review, and application of Company Standards, Municipality Requirements, and Regulatory Codes
- Perform independent QA/QC of drawing
- Verify structural and site-development layout meets project design
- Support Professional Engineers during project design phase (standards review, gather calculation inputs, gather permitting requirements, and other engineering activities) as
- Coordinate I&E design requirements with team members of all
- Review other disciple drawings to ensure coordination and drawing consistency with all I&E equipment.
- Perform field related work to obtain design information and verify designs for tie-ins as
- Review and respond to RFI’s throughout project-
- Review of third-party vendor drawings to ensure compatibility with intended I&E
QUALIFICATIONS:
- GENERAL
- US citizen, Permanent resident or Green card holder
- Select candidates will be required to participate in an in-person computer-based CAD test as part of the technical interview process.
- SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to react promptly and efficiently shift priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to elicit cooperation from a variety of sources including team members, project managers, and other disciplines.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and presentation skills.
- Capability to conduct independent research into project-related issues and
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in the following software/programs:
- AutoCAD
- Navisworks
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Detailed knowledge in the application of Codes and current Standards, including but not limited to:
- National Electrical Code (NEC)
- ANSI/ISA-5.1-2022
- API-RP500
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE- Associates or Bachelors’ degree in Technology, Computer Science, or Engineering
- In lieu of degree, 7 years of related design experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in power distribution or controls systems
