- Performs maintenance, inspection, program and calibration, installation, and repair functions on electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and equipment in wastewater collection and treatment systems and water production, treatment and distribution facilities.
- Observes variations in the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisitions System (SCADA) and makes adjustments accordingly.
- Diagnoses and repairs computer control systems; maintains system diagnostic and testing equipment.
- Monitors and supervises system and equipment warranty repairs and replacements.
- Assists with the planning and development of new and/or expansion of existing control systems.
- Monitors and maintains materials, inventory and supplies relating to the electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
- Maintains system data and performance reports associated with the electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Schedules, directs and evaluates staff as assigned.Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED equivalent; additional technical training or college coursework preferred; and three (3) years water and/or wastewater experience.
Special Requirements: Possession of a valid Arizona Driver's License; must possess or obtain Grade 1 Wastewater Treatment certification from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality within one year after hire. Prefer licenses/certificates in Rockwell products, Ignition SCADA software, Allen Bradley PLC hardware.Necessary Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of computer hardware, software, programming and applicable operating systems; knowledge of programmable logic controllers.
- Knowledge of the principles and processes of wastewater collection and treatment and water production, treatment and distribution.
- Knowledge of testing, maintenance, and repair procedures for industrial electrical systems and components.
- Knowledge of testing, maintenance, calibration and repair procedures, equipment, tools and standard practices involved with applicable equipment and systems.
- Knowledge of wastewater collection and treatment and water production, treatment and distribution electrical systems, emergency, back-up power systems, measuring and control devices.
- Knowledge of safety practices in the operation of electrical and mechanical equipment used in wastewater collection and treatment and in water production, treatment and distribution.
- Knowledge of Inductive Automation's Ignition SCADA software
- Skill in operating, designing, installing and repairing specialized electronic control and computer systems used in wastewater treatment plant operation and water production/treatment/distribution activities.
- Skill in reading and interpreting gauges and recording devices.
- Skill in reading technical documents, plans and schematics.
- Skill in performing and interpreting basic laboratory tests.
- Skill in keeping records and writing reports.
- Skill in following and effectively communicating verbal and written instructions.
Physical Demands / Work Environment: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in and around wastewater collection and treatment facilities and water production, treatment and distribution facilities.
