The Mary Morgan Moore Department of Music at Lamar University invites applications for an Instructor of Music Education with appointment beginning Fall 2024. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Music Education (in person, hybrid, and online), supervise clinical teachers, and additional courses and duties as assigned according to the needs of the department and qualifications of the applicant.The Instructor of Music Education will liaison with the College of Education and Human Development to assist in preparing students majoring in Music Education for state requirements regarding teacher certification. Additional duties include assessment reports for the university, state and accrediting boards, and other service activities. The Instructor of Music Education will have a teaching assignment of the equivalent of a twelve-hour course load each semester assigned according to expertise and experience.

The Mary Morgan Moore Department of Music is a comprehensive department within the College of Fine Arts and Communication. An important and vital link to the university and the community, the Department of Music includes 19 full-time faculty, 9 part-time faculty, and 138 students majoring in music with approximately 70% majoring in Music Education. The department offers Bachelor of Music degree in composition, Music Education, and performance; Bachelor of Arts degree; and Master of Music degree in Music Education (fully online) and performance.
