Position Summary
- This is a temporary assignment to cover a leave of absence for the 2024-2025 school year.
- Provide coaching and resources to teachers in order to help them improve their instructional practice and meet the high expectations of the Danielson Frameworks, Common Core Standards, and RTI -- (0.6 FTE).
- Mathematics Teacher - courses may include Algebra and Geometry (0.4 FTE).
Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Valid high school Professional Educator License (PEL) with an endorsement in subject area
- Five years successful teaching experience in grades 9-12
- Content-area specialist degree or certification (i.e. NBCT, Masters, other distinction) in one of the following: English, Math, Science, Social Studies, or Special Education
- Rated "Excellent" on most recent teacher evaluation, a plus though not required
- Instructional Coach certification from an accredited University, preferred
- ESL, preferred
Reports To
- Direct report to both the Principal and Mathematics Department Chair
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide coaching to teachers to improve their instruction through a four step coaching model (Data, Strategies, Progress Monitoring, and Reflection).
- Conduct effective coaching conversations with teachers to help them move towards the "Excellent" descriptors in more components of the Danielson Frameworks for Teaching.
- When assigned by the principal, serve as a coach to teachers working through a "Needs Improvement Plan".
- Conduct periodic instructional walkthroughs with the other instructional coaches at each school, following a coordinated protocol in order to provide data and feedback to the instructional leadership at that school.
- Support the district professional development plan focused on Assessment Literacy, Common Core, and RTI by assisting in the planning and presentation of Institute programs.
- Develop a "tool sharing" structure within the 8 coach instructional coach team to improve every coach's skills with strategies such as Coaching Protocols, CRISS, Kagan, and Instructional Technology.
- Increase teacher use of student progress data made available by MAP, EPAS, and CBMs.
- Support PLC work when requested by a team.
- Assist with new teacher induction.
- Model the use of instructional technology.
- Attend periodic coordination meetings with the District 87 Teaching and Learning Coordinator.
- Provide brief reports monthly at API meetings via videoconference.
- Standard teaching responsibilities.
- Other as may be assigned.

- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as correspondence, surveys, and electronic media
- Ability to write reports and other professional communications
- Ability to present information effectively and to respond to questions from individuals and groups
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community members
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in written form
- Ability to complete mathematical operations and apply concepts of basic mathematics
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to maintain current job skills as directed, especially in technology-related activities
- Ability to perform essential duties with an awareness of school district requirements and School Board policies

- The employee may occasionally lift up to 30 pounds such as reference books.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- The pace of work tasks would be considered as fast.
- Work is usually conducted at one job site, however, on occasion, this employee will be required to attend meetings, conferences, or workshops and events at other sites as assigned.
