Job Summary
Investigates, determines responsibility, confirms coverage, establishes damages, and negotiates settlement of claims.
* The ideal candidate will have prior property experience and reside in Pacific, Mountain and Central time zones, workplace is dependent upon candidate location.
Essential Job Functions
- Provides exceptional customer service.
- Interprets policy language to determine appropriate coverage outcomes.
- Collaborates with management and peers to drive business results.
- Supports the Catastrophe Response Team as needed during significant events requiring local, regional, or national response from the line of business.
- Conducts office investigation on assigned cases involving more complexity, confirms coverage, determines responsibility, establishes damages, reports status, and negotiates settlement (has authority to make payment of assigned claims within prescribed limits).
- Reviews documentation on damaged property and vehicles, and determines claims related damage.
- Reviews and adjusts estimates provided on the cost of repair or replacement of damaged or stolen property.
- Creates damage estimates to establish accurate claims payments.
- Communicates via telephone or other electronic means with policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, repair facilities, contractors/vendors, police and fire departments, state and county fraud and arson personnel, special investigators, attorneys, expert witnesses, members of the medical profession and all other persons integral to the investigation
- Reports on potential salvage recovery and subrogation potential; reports theft, fraud, and arson losses as required to federal state and industry agencies.
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Required to maintain an active adjusters license in states where required.
Experience Requirements
- Candidate should have a minimum of three years prior property claims experience.
- Customer service experience, preferably in a retail environment.
- Construction or Insurance experience highly desirable.
- Must achieve minimum passing score on all claims training exams.
- Bilingual (Spanish and English) candidates will be eligible to earn additional multilingual pay!
