Major Responsibilities:
Performance of evaluations and treatment in a thorough and timely manner in accordance with established departmental and professional standards and procedures resulting in clinically accurate Occupational Therapy plan of care. .
Evaluation: reviews pertinent medical history information; selects appropriate diagnostic tests: interprets the results.
Implementation of Occupational Therapy Treatment: functional, measurable realistic goal development; revises and upgrades goals; uses appropriate intervention techniques per disability, illness, or developmental need; develops discharge plan with rehabilitation team.
Provides education and guidance to patients and families regarding their physical disorder, current treatment programs, prognosis, and treatment plan. Provides education for use of specific equipment as appropriate for in hospital or home program.
Provides adequate guidance and direction for Rehabilitation Aides if utilized.
Provides a safe work environment and follows infection control policy and procedure.
Documentation follows guidelines set forth by Accrediting Organization, AOTA, Managed Care and Rehab Services Policy and Procedure.
Evaluation, treatment and discharge documentation is complete, accurate, concise and legible.
Inpatient billing is accurately entered and audited on the same day as service.
Primary managed care therapy coverage and benefits are monitored. .
Productivity documentation is accurate, complete and performed on the same day as service.
Maintain efficiency of treatment by coordinating activities with other Rehabilitation Service personnel, nursing, medical staff, and other ancillary departments.
Represents the Rehabilitation Services' Department at patient care conferences if assigned.
Other duties as assigned: Therapists assigned to inpatient stroke units receive an initial two (2) hours of stroke education and one (1) hour of annual education;. If assigned to the Fitness Center, duties also include activities which support programming and other services available at that site.

Occupational Therapist
Education/Experience Required:
Graduation from an accredited O.T. program. Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
N/A
License to practice O.T. in Illinois or eligibility. CPR certified
Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:
Required to work at least one weekend per month and rotate on holiday schedule. May be required to work evenings. Very heavy lifting: Up to 100 pounds occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds constantly. May be exposed to hazardous materials and life threatening diseases. This position will need to recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients. This position can recognize needs and behaviors of the following age groups: pediatric (newborn, toddler, school-age), adolescent, adult, older adult. Evidence of this can be shown by recognizing levels of development and modifying approach and exhibiting communication skills necessary to interpret age specific responses. Cover off campus locations if needed.
This requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 08/01/2014. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
