DESCRIPTION
- Use the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care appropriate for patient age.
- Clinical expert in all basic and advanced treatment and procedures.
- Provides learning opportunities through orientation, in-service programs.
- Implements diagnostic and therapeutic medical orders.
- Obtains BLS, ACLS and PALS training within 90 days of employment.
- Provides patient education. Identifies patient/family learning needs and implements measures to meet those needs.
- Functions as a team member.
- Ability to perform efficiently and effectively under stress.
- Job requires both initiative and dependability. Must be able to prioritize.
- Performs physical/psychosocial assessment on assigned patients.
- Physician orders carried out 100% of the time.
- Performs assessment and re-assessment according to age and condition according to policy.
- Evaluates effectiveness of treatments given and documents appropriately.
- Provides discharge instructions to patient or caregiver on a level that they can understand.
- Assures that assigned area is neat, clean, and well stocked for patient care.
- Demonstrates skill in performing IV therapy (via peripheral, central line, dialysis catheter or PICC line), and phlebotomy, as well as routine nursing care.
- Acts as a preceptor for new employee’s and/or students assigned.
- Assumes the responsibility of the charge nurse/team leader in the department.
- Assess all patients in the Infusion Center for possible adverse reaction to therapy, takes appropriate action and notifies physician..
- Uses critical thinking skills when needed.
- Able to provide physical, mental and emotional support.
- Maintain confidentiality at all time in accordance with Protected Health Information (PHI)
Education/ Qualifications/ Requirements:
- Registered Nurse; ADN or BSN Degree in Nursing or
- Licensed Practical Nurse License
- Current Georgia RN or LPN License
- High School Diploma
- *Current CPR Certification
- *Current ACLS Certification
- *Current PALS Certification
- RN’s are required to have:
- 30 hours by a Board approved provider or
- Verification of competency -@ least 500 hours practiced as evidence by employer certification
in order to renew and maintain current RN license
Experience:
Prior experience in medical field and emergency medicine preferred but not required.
Physical Demands:
Employee is required to both sit and stand for prolonged periods of time. Will be required to lift up to 100 lbs. There is a potential electrical injury from defibrillator. Bending, stooping, and lifting are frequently done in a workday. The ability to think and work under stress, to tolerate being subjected to frequent interruptions, and be will willing to work beyond normal working hours as necessary. Requires communication ability (speak, read, comprehend, and write)
Working Environment:
Works in a climate controlled hospital setting.

Telephone, pulse oximeter, suction equipment, crash cart, external pacemaker, IV pumps, stretcher, wheelchair, blood pressure cuff, spine board, EKG machine, Cardiac monitor, O2 equipment, defibrillator, ambulance radio, VS monitor, fetal monitor, fax, copier, etc.
