GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK: FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs computer hardware, software, and peripherals. Provide customer support and respond to Help Desk tickets. Completes large fleet or user projects. Work is performed under regular supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs initial setup, configuration and deployment of PC hardware and software for employees.
- Performs initial setup, configuration and deployment of mobile devices for employees.
- Manages and completes large projects for the Agency’s fleet of users or devices.
- Ensures a homogenous computer environment is maintained by ensuring instructions are carefully followed.
- Maintains equipment records for deployed inventory.
- Works with vendors to have defective equipment repaired or replaced.
- Responds to Help Desk tickets and renders technical assistance for computer software, hardware, and PC peripherical issues.
- Assists users with basic training as needed.
- Assists the IT Team in the performance of their jobs.
- Performs other related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
General knowledge of personal computer and peripherals; working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Visio); skill in the use of MS Operating Systems; skill in basic hardware installation and maintenance of related equipment; good troubleshooting and problem solving skills; ability to understand and follow written or oral procedures and instructions; ability to train users in the use of various agency hardware and applications; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent, and at least one year of experience in computer hardware and software support.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects, and some medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for depth perception, color perception, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts at or within arms length, operation of machines, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Virginia driver's license; attends training and maintains certifications as required by the Agency and regulatory guidelines.
