Annual Salary Range (Steps)*:Step I: $ 68,000.00Step II: $ 72,000.00Step III: $ 80,000.00*Starting salary typically begins at Step I MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education:Any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge and abilities is qualifying.The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are of a level comparable with those generally acquired through a higher education, supplemented by technical study and considerable experience in the development and utilization of data processing methods, systems, software, and equipment. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities include: Experience:Two years of increasingly responsible work experience in the development and utilization of data processing methods, systems, software, and equipment. Any of the following certifications is desirable:Certification as a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP); CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA); CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Driver License:Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License may be required at the time of appointment.Failure to obtain or maintain such required license(s) may be cause for disciplinary action.Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a physical disability will be considered for accommodation on a case-by-case basis. Abbreviated Job Description:Under the direction of the IT Officer, performs a variety of professional and technical duties pertaining to the analysis, development, and administration of computer hardware and software systems to meet the technology needs of the Authority.Monitors a variety of Information Systems including, network security, plant security systems, and telephonic systems; performs related work as required. Examples of duties of the Information Systems Technician include, but are not limited to:Receive, enter, and track end-user problems and resolutions; ensure appropriate problems are resolved within a timely manner; prepare status reports of completed service items.Provides technical desktop support to users; troubleshoots hardware and software problems associated with SLDMWA computers, telecommunication, security systems, and related equipment; performs network backups; makes recommendations regarding hardware and software acquisitions; performs related work as required.Verify and open a variety of databases to ensure files are operational and systems are available to users.Assist in the design, installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, upgrades, and administration of LAN/WAN, including remote access.Maintains, monitors, and troubleshoots computer network including file servers, workstations, network devices, Internet connection, telecommunications equipment, video equipment, and other digital devices.Act as a contact and technical liaison for outside vendors of hardware and software i.e., Microsoft, Symantec, Dell, Lenovo and others.Works with departments to determine their requirements and ensure that their Information Systems are operating properly.Maintain an inventory of computer parts, audio-visual equipment, supplies, and equipment; monitor inventory levels; prepare reports as required. Maintains security of the network.Maintains the adequacy of the backup systems; performs backup and restore process, and disaster planning.Installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades of servers.Provides general hardware and cable repair. Installation, configuration, and maintenance of new and existing PCs.Maintains and ensures proper software licensing in accordance with Federal and State regulations.Tests and reports on various software products.Provide quality assurance of products by identifying and documenting defects and evaluating and recommending software packages for potential acquisition.Reviews, evaluates, and recommends new tools, technology, and products for the development or enhancement of various applications or systems.Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and those contacted during the course of work.Regular attendance and adherence to prescribed work schedule to conduct job responsibilities. Requires the Knowledge of: Basic principles and best practices used in the operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and administration of personal computer and server operating systems, personal computer and server system hardware, mobile computing systems, and related software systems. To include, but not limited to:Microsoft Office (2016 thru O365), Microsoft Server (2008 thru 2022), Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft SQL.Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Registry editor.Computerized maintenance management systems (CMMC) and enterprise asset management systems.Computer Systems architecture, configuration, and monitoring.Strategic design of Computer/Network systems, involving Antivirus, Cyber Security, and Disaster Recovery technologies.Theory and design of information technology.Principles of database management and systems development.Application of data processing methods to the operations and services.Computers and software programs to conduct, compile, and/or generate documentation.Zoom, Teams, Webex, Goto Meeting and other online meeting software Must possess the ability to:Analyze, diagnose, and troubleshoot information technology networks, servers, systems, workstation hardware, managed and un-managed switches, firewalls, routers and related software using logic to solve problems.Use various resources; internet searches, in person and remote training classes, webinars, videos to independently research and continue education to keep current with changing technologies. Translate technical terminology into commonly understood terms.Provide advice and consultation in the development of data processing applications.Develop operations and procedures manuals for managing the computer network and Information Systems.Communicate effectively orally and in writing.Analyze and evaluate data, formulate proposals, and implement computer system plans.Independently organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow up on assignments. Regularly and consistently meet attendance/punctuality requirements.Follow instructions, work independently and cooperatively with others. Typical Physical Activities include, but are not limited to: Communicates orally with Management and co-workers, in face-to-face one-to-one settings and in group settings (gives instructions and information and responds to questions).See and hear within normal range with or without correction.Possess normal color vision.Ability to work/sit at a desk for an extended period of time.Work in an office environment, lift and move objects up to 50 pounds, such as Laser printers, large monitors, and other equipment.Regularly uses telephones for communication.Able to bend and maneuver to install/work with computer hardware under desks (may involve crawling).Have sufficient finger/hand coordination and dexterity to operate and adjust office equipment such as computer systems, telephones, and other related equipment.Drive and operate company owned motor vehicles, sometimes for extended periods. Environmental Factors include:Exposure to: sun, 10% or less work time spent outside a building and exposed to the sun.Irregular or extended work hours: Occasionally required to change working hours or work overtime. BENEFITS: Holidays: Employees receive eleven (11) paid holidays, including one (1) floating holiday. Vacation & Medical Leave:Vacation leave is accrued at the rate of 80 hours per year up through year 4.At year five, leave increases to 120 hours per year.At 10 years of service, vacation leave is accrued at the rate of 140 hours and at 15 years of service, vacation leave increases to a maximum of 160 hours per year.Medical leave accrues at the rate of 8 hours per month. Retirement Benefits:401(a) Defined Contribution Plan: A 401(a) Defined Contribution Plan is funded by the Authority contributing equal to 8% of your gross base annual salary.457 Deferred Compensation Plan: The 457 Deferred Compensation Plan is up to a 5% match of your contributions by the Authority based on gross base annual salary.Upon retirement, a Retirement Health Savings (RHS) Plan is available.The total potential combined contributions for the 401(a) and the 457 plans by the Authority may amount to a maximum of 13% of your gross base annual salary.All contributions under both plans vest immediately to you. NOTE: You should be aware that the Authority does not participate in Social Security. This may affect Social Security benefits you have already earned upon retirement. This organization participates in E-Verify.About San Luis & Delta-Mendota Water Authority: The San Luis & Delta-Mendota Water Authority was established in January of 1992 and consists of member agencies that provide water service to approximately 1,200,000 acres of irrigated agriculture, 2 million people, and 130,000 acres of wetlands within the western San Joaquin Valley, San Benito and Santa Clara counties.One of the primary purposes of establishing the Authority was to assume the operation and maintenance (O&M) responsibilities of certain United States Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) Central Valley Project facilities, and do so at an optimum level and at a lower cost than the USBR.The Authority serves the information and representation needs of our members by developing, providing and disseminating information to legislative, administrative and judicial bodies concerning a variety of issues such as: Sacramento and San Joaquin Delta exports, water supply, water quality, water development, conservation, distribution, drainage, contractual rights, surface and groundwater management, and any other common interest of the member agencies. The governing body of the Authority consists of a 19-member Board of Directors classified into five divisions with directors selected from within each division. Each Director, and respective Alternate Director, is a member of the governing body or an appointed staff member of his or her agency.The Delta-Mendota Canal delivers approximately 3,000,000-acre feet of water within the Authority service area. Of this amount, 2,500,000-acre feet are delivered to highly productive agricultural lands, 150,000 to 200,000-acre feet for municipal and industrial uses, and between 250,000 to 300,000 acre-feet are delivered to wildlife refuges for habitat enhancement and restoration.The Authority, with its current staffing of 103 employees, continues to provide the leadership necessary to pursue additional reliable water supply for its Member Districts and deliver the water with a reliable system in a cost efficient manner.
